The Commoners drink deep on Fill My Cup first singe from new album Find a Better Way Out Friday 4th November

All the way from Toronto, The Commoners have a new single out: the first of three trailers for a new album due in November. Although they’ve been active for around ten years or so, this is the first time I’ve come across the combined talents of Chris Medhurst (vocals/guitar), Ben Spiller (bass), Ross Hayes Citrullo (lead guitar), and Adam Cannon (drums), often joined by their friend, organist Miles Evans-Branagh.

They are certainly coming from a good place as: “The Black Crowes are a big influence for us. Derek Trucks, Marcus King, and the Allman Brothers, of course. These are the bands that we aspire to wear on our sleeves as we create our own music.”

The first single is called Fill My Cup and is like The Answer and The Black Crowes having a bluesy, gospely, southern rock jam…it works very well too with some neat guitars, a killer bass line and plenty of support from the keyboards and backing vocals. There’s light, shade and a good old sing-a-long opportunity. It certainly bodes well for the new album.

Stream and buy the single HERE.
“Find A Better Way” and will be released by Gypsy Soul Records on Friday November 4th.
