Radford Mill Festival of Rhythm and Blues 2018

SATURDAY 11th AUGUST 2018 – Gates Open 11am

From a humble gathering, Radford Mill R&B Festival has swiftly become a challenger to more established similar events!  Eight great Rhythm and Blues acts spearhead our next extraordinary music festival on August 11th, 2018 in the idyllic riverside setting of Radford Mill Farm in Timsbury, just outside Bath.

This picturesque area features traditional English gardens and plants with the pretty Cam Brook running through its grounds; providing a relaxing and restorative ambience to stroll around and enjoy between bands.

The Bands themselves perform under a large marquee which has the sides lifted for exterior visibility.  This marquee is set in a natural amphitheatre which enables the audience to sit outside and enjoy the excellent audibility.  In the event of rain, everybody could comfortably move under cover.

Gates open at 11am on Saturday 11th August 2018 with the programme running through until 11.30pm.

Children under 16 have free entry into the festival as we want to encourage the next generation of music lovers, and we welcome well-behaved dogs, too!

ROBIN BIBI BAND    – Texas Style Blues / Rock

Robin Bibi Band have been exciting, inspiring and entertaining audiences in the U.K., Ireland , Europe and the USA for almost 20 years and they just keep on increasing their energy and originality with every show!

DELRAY ROCKETS  – Rock’a’Billy with attitude

The Delray Rockets are a 3 piece Rock’a’Billy Band hailing from Central England U.K, formed by a group of Rock’a’Billy renegades wanting to push Rock’a’Billy to another level, or “Up a gear”… to coin a phrase.. They felt the Music scene needed a new band with a driving force but an old familiar sound, so they formed this 3 piece outfit to prove their point.. The Delray Rockets music has a strong ’50’s Influence, but with a very modern style, although not taking away the roots from the original Rock’a’Billy feel to the sound. A Delray Rockets gig is an electric high energy show, with twists and turns to its music featuring a full powered stage show

LOST ELEVEN    –   Electric Country Blues / Americana

In other words bluesy, country songs with an electric feel and a bit of bluegrass thrown in for good measure.

Bristol based, they consist of George May on banjo, harp and vocals, Roger Slade on slide-guitar, ukele & cigar-box plus whatever else he can lay his hands on, Steve Webb on bass and vocals, and John Furlong, Bristol’s most popular musician, on drums.

Always entertaining,  always up-beat, Lost Eleven’s repertoire crosses from well-known  standards to songs plucked from obscurity – just to keep it interesting!

MESTIZO BLUES COLLECTIVE     – Hot, spicy Rhythm ‘n’ Blues

Mestizo play “hot, spicy rhythm ‘n’ blues” an infectious fusion of blues, funk, rock and latin grooves – a mix of sure-fire crowd pleasing standards and outstanding original blues material…feelgood music for all imaginable occasions.

MAHARAJA BLUES    – Early Blues with Indian Tabla

Maharaja Blues is the culmination of the flow of three talented rivers, Richard, Jonathan and Satinder as they merge with the great Mississippi, fusing the sound of the beating tabla with the euphoric slide blues and the fire of the harmonica. During 2011 the duo started to perform more frequently together and their sound was greatly received. They released an EP. This EP commemorates and celebrates the distinctive sound produced by the combination of the duo’s rhythm and harmony, as well as the good times had during this period. In 2014 Jonathan became the third tributary to flow into the blues water of this musical river

“Kris Dollimore, one of the first division of solo bluesmen”. Blues Matters Magazine

During a career in music, spanning four decades, Kris has graced some of the world’s greatest stages and has played with many international bands and artists. These include The Godfathers, The Damned, Dee Dee Ramone, Johnny Thunders, Adam Ant and Del Amitri.  Kris took the decision to perform as a solo artist 13 years ago and has toured relentlessly, travelling the UK and Europe, earning a hard core following of loyal fans which is growing by the day.  His fifth album is due out later this year and is attracting the same positive interest as it’s predecessors.

LUCKY OL’ SUN     – A rock ‘n’ roll trio with a style deeply rooted in blues music.

Our style is infused with rockabilly, country, jazz. And we’re also good at blasting out some Hendrix too!

Our music is upbeat and covers the vintage sounds of the bands from the 50s  onwards. We’re never happier than when we’ve got the audience up and dancing.
