Enjoy Jeff Beck Live Hollywood Bowl At Home

Enjoy Jeff Beck Live Hollywood Bowl At HomeThanks to the release of a DVD and Album we can Enjoy Jeff Beck Live Hollywood Bowl At Home. For the majority of fans sitting in the Hollywood Bowl on the 10th August 2016 was just a dream. Now it can be a virtual experience thanks to the release of DVD, CDs and Blueray.  First I watched the DVD, the energy of the show is captured, the feeling of live music permeated through the speakers. Jeff Beck is in absolute control from the first note, his band is in stunning form as The Revolution Will Be Televised is announced by Rosie Bones. We are off to a show-stopping guitar fest no one speaks or move I am in the Beck Zone. The same feeling is on the double CD.  The recording of the live show has kept the warm fluid tones of a live performance and the night just gets better and better no wonder the audience is so enthusiastic.

The collection of tracks reflecting the half century of his incredible contribution to modern music. This is a party with true style as the eight-time Grammy award winner fills his golden moment with a phalanx of special guests. The guests add but never detract from Beck’s glittering virtuoso guitar performance. How far has the road been since Jeff Beck stood on the stage as a tourist to performing to a packed house of fans who hung on every note played and string bending moment. This would not have been a Jeff Beck celebratory party without Jan Hammer on keys bring the textured wonder that shapes Prog-Rock. Freeway Jam is the first but not the last time we hear Jan’s fingers dancing across the keyboards.

Early on in his career as a member of The Yardbirds Jimmy Hall takes on the lead vocals on Over Under Sideways and For Your love. Tonight we journey through his career dipping into an array of albums Truth his debut album through to the 2016 Loud Hailer album.  The albums are crammed full of one highlight after another the guests all adding pizzazz as Buddy Guy, Billy Gibbons, Steven Tyler and Beth Hart all help create the celebratory mood. But the crowning glory on every track is the magical guitar sound from the maestro himself Jeff Beck. There is no need to be a guitar expert, or understand the technicalities of strings, pickups and pedals to sit back and listen in awe to the range and complexity of chords and riffs that flow with incendiary precision from the flying fingers across the six-strings.

To pick out a few of the tracks just doesn’t do justice to the album celebrating the depth and breadth of Beck’s long and illustrious career to-date. With Beck’s Bolero creating a pictorial landscape visualized through the sound and shape of Beck’s guitar, followed by a twin helping of glorious Beck, instrumental Rice Pudding always a live favourite morphing into Morning Dew with Jimmy Hall replacing Rod Stewart on vocals what a classic duo of tunes to showcase contemporary rock. We have to have a jam with the energy on the stage as Beck’s voice once again praises the great Jan Hammer on keys as we zoom down the Freeway. The keyboards create a sound that towers above the instrumentation then in reply Beck’s guitar sweet, controlled and determined that the keys will not win this road race.

The blues classic is given a Hart/Beck rendition as I’d Rather Go Blind is heard across the Hollywood Bowl as Beth relinquished the microphone Buddy Guy picks up the challenge to play with Jeff Beck. As Let Me Love You fills the auditorium and the guitars emit some mighty licks. Then Beck plays Rough Boy with Billy Gibbons, replaying the ZZ Top 2016 hit. Now with Steve Tyler as vocalist, the party is rocking and the show is heading to a close with the 1968 Yardbirds, Train Kept A-Rollin followed by Shape of Things. Who what a night of music live in your sitting room.

How to top that for an encore? Firstly, let the guitar do the talking with a glorious instrumental version of A Day In The Life from Beatles Sgt. Pepper Album. Then invite everyone back on stage and a tribute to the late Purple majesty, Prince with Purple Rain that left everyone listening stirred, shaken and over-awed by the wonderfully emotional performance leaving you astounded by the wonders of contemporary rock.
