Bad Touch out on a headline tour with Mollie Marriott, opening in Sheffield 9th November and culminating at Planet Rock SOLD OUT Rockstock in December.  To celebrate Bad Touch’s headline tour a new single “Baby Get It On” featuring guest vocals from Mollie Marriott.  The single is a cover of Tina Turner’s 1975 classic.

The new Bad Touch single featuring Mollie Marriott will be released on Monday 23rdOctober as a free MP3 download.

Bluesdoodles    Already excited about seeing Bad Touch on Stage again in November the single confirms why we all should be putting the date in the diary. The music fizzes with excitement and Mollie Marriott’s vocals harmonise with Stevie’s adding texture tone. The reinterpretation of the Tina Turner number.  Baby Get It on first appeared on Tina Turner’s second solo album “Acid Queen” that was originally released in 1975. Although it was a Tina Turner solo album, the first single “Baby Get It On” was a duet with Ike Turner (who wrote the song for Tina). The tradition has been replicated here as Mollie Marriot join Bad Touch keeping the heart and soul of the original adding touch of 21st-century badness.

“We’re excited to be taking to the road in November with Mollie,” says Bad Touch’s lead singer, Stevie Westwood. “Not only is she only a great vocalist in her own right, but she’s also the daughter of the legendary guitarist and singer Steve Marriott (Small Faces, Humble Pie). She’s part of rock royalty. It will be great to have Mollie touring with us. She’s got a killer voice. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

The Bad Flowers Single delivers Thunder Child Check It Out

The Bad Flowers Single delivers Thunder Child Check It Out

The Bad Flowers Single delivers Thunder Child Check It Out

The Bad Flowers Single delivers Thunder Child Check It Out. Why? I smell rock that sizzles. The sound builds and builds with a rumble and roll of riff mayhem. The Black Country once again is serving up rock that packs a punch, full of melodic undertones pulling through on riffs that clap like a mighty thunderstorm. The single opens with a burst of cymbals introducing you to drummer Karl Selickis’; the beat is picked up with deep and full bass grooves provided by Dale Tonks. Then the outpouring of vocalist Tom Leighton. This is a rock power trio that keeps the music pumped up and full of intense tonal shapes and textured rhythms.  The Bad Flowers have a distinctive, compelling sound the three musicians interact creating a maelstrom of rock a bouquet of sound that no simple ribbon can hold in place as the notes are bent and turned into Thunder Child.

The ‘B’ side completes the tasty single with Lions Blood, two tracks that definitely leave you wanting more of the trio’s Black Country rock, full of fuzz, heavy grooves and a rawness that keeps an edge to the music which is sharp and imaginative with an energy. This means that the band are in a hurry to be noticed. They will achieve that with this couplet of rock tones as Thunder Child flows into Lions Blood. The single, Thunder Child, unsurprisingly is getting radio play and the trio is being noticed as they embark on an 8-day tour; including five dates supporting The Picturebooks in October.

The Bad Flowers, deliver a sweet rock riffy sound do not miss out on the chance to be in on the action.  Having formed in 2014 they have been making formidable rock foot in the past whilst full of  21st-century rock sensibilities.

All cylinders are furiously firing, Dan Reed Network are back all guns blazing. With the recent release of their critically acclaimed album “Fight Another Day” safely in their pockets, the band have indulged Europe and the States in a fiery return to the touring circuit.

To celebrate their upcoming special guest appearance on EXTREME’S December UK tour, on Monday 31st July, Dan Reed Network will launch the official music video for their single “Infected”

“DRN is honoured to be touring with EXTREME this December in the UK,” says Dan Reed.  “The funk rock scene of the late 80’s early 90’s was an exciting, inventive era in the music scene and to be sharing the stage with one of a handful of bands that championed that movement will be nothing but good times on stage for us, and a raucous experience for the audience. This tour promises to be an adrenaline fuelled evening of soaring melodies, infectious grooves and a party atmosphere that we in the band are truly excited about being a part of, and we are tremendously grateful to be on the road with such a talented and innovative band. Time to funk it up big time!”

What the critics are saying about
– Dan Reed Network –

“If the Dan Reed Network is headed for a venue near you, grab a ticket for what is a terrific – if unorthodox – night of music experience that is sure to set your heart beating dangerously fast.”
Terry Caster – Yorkshire Evening Post

“Dan Reed Network’s second coming is a shining recent example of an audience keeping the faith and a band rediscovering its mojo.  Long may they, and their loyal followers, prosper.”
David Randall – Get Ready To Rock

“You just have to take one look at the stage, you see a band who is enjoying every moment of this ride, they have a new lease of life. Each member of the group is beaming from the stage throughout.”
Adam Kennedy – National Rock Review

“When I hear an actual piper starting up Scotland the Brave, I figure that someone has it as their ringtone. As far as entrances go, this is right up there with Freddie Mercury aloft Darth Vader’s shoulders. You literally had to be there.”
Dave Stott – Devil’s Gate Media

Bluesdoodles said about Fight Another Day “The choreography of sound creates a soundscape of words often thought-provoking against a rock melody that wraps you in a comfort blanket of sound. ….. the band is definitely Standing Tall as the last notes fade with Funk Rock reinvented for today while still true to the fans of the 1980’s”. Dan Owen Stunning Made To Love You Single

Dan Owen

Shrewsbury singer/songwriter Dan Owen has announced his brand new single ‘Made To Love You’, released this Friday (August 12th).

Dan Owen Stunning Made To Love You Single

It’s a hauntingly beautiful, heart-on-sleeve break-up ballad from the husky-voiced 24-year old. Examining what keeps people together yet drives them apart, the song comes from Dan’s personal experience supporting a friend who was suffering in an abusive relationship.

LISTEN TO ‘MADE TO LOVE YOU’ HERE

Dan Owen originally rose to prominence after a video of him playing a stunning cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘The Ballad Of Hollis Brown’ live was uploaded by a random audience member to Reddit and became an overnight viral internet sensation.

Since then Dan’s own talents as a songwriter have blossomed and the result is a captivating selection of songs. His debut EP Bad For Me was released to high praise in 2015 and now ‘Made To Love You’ is the first taste of his upcoming Open Hands And Enemies EP.

Open Hands And Enemies has Dan straddling swooning soul, throaty blues and carefully crafted pop sentiments, and is due for release on September 14th through LAB Records.

A seasoned veteran of the road despite his young age, Dan has just completed a 30-date European tour in support of Birdy. The singer is such a huge fan of Dan that she finished every night of her tour inviting him onstage to duet on her 2015 hit ‘Let It All Go’. He’s also been invited back to head out on the road with her again for more shows in the autumn.

Dan will also be playing his own headline London show on September 7th at St Pancras Old Church.

Dylan LeBlanc returns with third release, Cautionary Tale

unnamed

Muscle Shoals’ singer/songwriter Dylan LeBlanc returns with his third release, Cautionary Tale, which hits January 15 on Single Lock Records. LeBlanc’s first two releases were the acclaimed 2010 recordings Pauper’s Field and 2012’s Cast The Same Old Shadow. With his reflective, mournful songs that belied his age, critics previously hailed the young singer; The Guardian noted that LeBlanc was “favourably compared with Harvest-era Neil Young and country-folk breakouts Fleet Foxes.” The title track “Cautionary Tale” is available today at all digital outlets; buy it on iTunes HERE.
LISTEN TO ‘CAUTIONARY TALE’ HERE:

After the success of his first two albums, LeBlanc slipped into a blur of booze and self-doubt. At just 23-years-old, Dylan came home to Muscle Shoals, Alabama to write a new life for himself.  In between the moments of clarity and a few familiar falls, he wrote Cautionary Tale: a collection of shimmering, arresting songs with the same haunting vocals that caught the attention of Lucinda Williams and Bruce Springsteen, now with a sharpened edge honed by hastened maturity.
Cautionary Tale features Brittany Howard (Alabama Shakes) and is produced by John Paul White (Civil Wars) and Ben Tanner (Alabama Shakes). White and Tanner perform on the release as well. Tastemaker NPR affiliate KCRW has been the first supporter of LeBlanc’s new music, since highlighting the title track this summer.
About Dylan Leblanc, John Paul White notes: “I’m extremely fortunate to have been involved with this record. He’s weathered many storms, came out wiser, and we all now benefit – because this record wouldn’t exist without those trials and tribulations. It continuously rides that fine line between empowerment and despair. “
LeBlanc has been getting rave reviews on the road, at sold-out shows with George Ezra and David Ramirez in the States. UK shows to be announced soon.

CHANTEL McGREGOR RELEASES VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE – “TAKE THE POWER”

CHANTEL McGREGOR RELEASES VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE – “TAKE THE POWER”
TAKEN FROM THE NEW STUDIO ALBUM “LOSE CONTROL” (RELEASED FRIDAY 9 OCTOBER)

Guitarist and singer-songwriter Chantel McGregor will release her new album, “Lose Control”, on Friday 9th October 2015 on her independent boutique label Tis Rock Music – her first studio album since her critically acclaimed 2011 debut, “Like No Other”. The first single, “Take The Power”, is released on Monday September 28th, and is accompanied by a promo video filmed on location in Edinburgh, produced by Sine Wave Media and directed by Richard Weston.

Chantel returns with a vengeance with ten new songs that not only salutes contemporary rock, but shows her gradual transition from conventional Blues to a harder, bigger and bolder rock sound with progressive influences. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered at Livingstone Brown’s studio in Brixton. Livingstone Brown, (Ed Sheeran, Bryan Ferry, Robin Trower), played the majority of the bass on the album, with Chantel playing small parts, with Keith McPartling on drums.

“I’m keen on Southern Gothic literature, artwork and media,” says Chantel. “I wanted to create an album that reflected the imagery and themes of that genre. I drew inspiration from the TV shows True Detective and True Blood and studied the literary works of Tennessee Williams, Carson McMullers and Mark Twain. “I also surrounded myself with imagery from artists and photographers such as Walker Evans and Clarence John Laughlin, all to immerse myself in the sinister, dark world of depravation, magic and voodoo, writing most of the songs from the perspective of the disturbed flawed characters.”

Bluesdoodles said this “Chantel explores what she is capable of, with her sparkling talent as guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. Lose Control – never lets Rock on and relish listening to the talent that is Chantel McGregor.

Frankie Lee: Debut Single ~ ‘Where Do We Belong’

96260Frankie Lee’s debut single  Where Do We Belong  is out 4th September 2015 via Loose Music

Frankie Lee will release his debut single ‘Where Do We Belong’ through Loose Music on 4th September. Available on 7” vinyl and featuring the AA-side ‘Buffalo’, the single was recorded at Real Phonic Studios in Minneapolis, MN.

Born on the banks of the Mississippi river, Lee’s family later moved to Minneapolis. Following the death of his father in a motorcycle accident when he was 12, Frankie immersed himself in the city’s music scene, appearing onstage with local heroes Slim Dunlap (The Replacements) and Curtiss A at the impressionable age of 14. After inheriting records and instruments from his father’s collection, Lee was – as he sees it – “taught to play guitar by a ghost”. He continues, “I was raised on stage. These guys would bring me into the clubs, sit me behind the soundboard and give me all the coca cola I could drink until they’d call me up for a song or two at the end of the night.”

View the video and take a music ride with Frankie Lee!

Bluesdoodles enjoyed listening to the country fused fast driving melodic Where Do We Belong asking the question that so many of us ponder. The music easily attributed to Americana, but it is more that there is a driving rhythm combined with questioning lyrics that takes the music back to roots music and given a popular riff to make the song catchy. The harmonising of the vocalists adds a depth of tone and fits the guitar tone so that this is a complete single a true teaser and taster of what is too come. With his colourful background and eventful life he has a lot of personal material to draw on his forthcoming debut album. It definitely makes you want to hear the debut album American Dreamer due out on the 2nd October on Loose Records.

Preview: Israel Nash’s ~ New Album : Silver Season

unnamed (1)

Israel Nash and his band return from the Texas Hill Country with the new album Israel Nash’s Silver Season to be released October 9th, 2015 via Loose/Thirty Tigers.
Following his critically acclaimed 2013 album Rain Plans, Israel Nash’s Silver Season was written and recorded on Nash’s 15-acre ranch in Dripping Springs, near Austin TX, where he and his band built Plum Creek Sound, a 1,400 square-foot Quenset studio. Recorded to tape with Grammy-award winning engineer Ted Young (Kurt Vile, Sonic Youth, The Rolling Stones) back behind the boards, Israel Nash makes a bold return with Israel Nash’s Silver Season.

Influenced by the peaceful Texas hillside, the 9-song album ventures farther down the acid-soaked trail blazed by Rain Plans, arriving in lush and expansive territory. Here, Nash sounds more assured than ever, supported by his highly capable band and production inspired by psychedelic greats.
The band has now released a video for the album’s first track ‘Strangers’:

In support of the new record, Nash and his band are heading out on the road to play multiple US festivals this summer and headline dates in the autumn. News of UK and European dates to follow soon.
