IAN SIEGAL on his All The Rage tour With special guests DAWN BROTHERS

In April 2018 blues supremo Ian Siegal will tour a new album of original songs with his young band of ace musicians. 15 shows in England & Scotland.

In more than a quarter-century of touring Ian Siegal’s mission statement has barely changed: songs that are real, shows that resonate, vocals served raw. Today he is considered by many to be the most compelling British blues artiste since the great names of the sixties.

In 2018 he will be touring a new album, All The Rage his first studio recording of new songs in six years. Produced by American Jimbo Mathus, the album is classic Siegal: full of the dark and light, clever word play and rough-hewn voice box he is known for. It also marks the first studio recording with the band he hooked up with in 2013. Frequent touring has evolved a distinctive sound featuring Dusty Ciggaar’s tex-mex infused guitar licks.

Classic Rock tags Siegal “a national treasure,” America’s blues bible says “vast talent” and MOJO magazine ranks him “the cleverest writer and most magnetic blues performer in the UK.” He has taken his music to more than 45 countries and presided over a trophy haul that includes 10 British Blues Awards, four European Blues Awards, two Mojo Blues Albums Of The Year not to mention three US Blues Music Awards nominations – an unprecedented nod for a non-American.

Bluesdoodles. Liz Aiken a long time fan and follower of Ian Siegal says this is a MUST See Show of 2018 place the date in your diary and buy a ticket HERE

Adding to the excitement is a new studio album with his band so 2018 once again probably once again be ruled by an Ian Siegal Album being added to the collection.

Ian Siegal – Temporary Live @Bimhuis Amsterdam

Providing a high-energy opening segment on the tour will be DAWN BROTHERS, a young band out of Rotterdam that Ian Siegal has been raving about since seeing them live in 2017. Although these four young men are not related by blood, they most certainly share a genetic bond musically. Think Creedence Clearwater Revival, Otis Redding, The Band, and you’re in Dawn Brothers’ territory. As individual musicians they shine, collectively they are a force to be reckoned with.

New Album New style The Truth still Laurence Jones

New Album New style The Truth still Laurence Jones

New Album New style The Truth still Laurence Jones

How to get noticed in the world replete with Social Chatter?  As a Musician release a new album and change your style. Laurence Jones has done just that on The Truth. In an age where intro’s over 10 seconds are deemed too long, will fans of Laurence’s previous releases take the time to listen to the album a few times. As the truth is, it is still Laurence’s melodic vocals, his stinging guitar licks and timing. What has changed, the blues have been mellowed no rich veins of blues shuffles, riffs and hooks. The Truth is accomplished and more commercial. The album definitely has listenability appeal.

The opening track has grab appeal.  This is a different side of Laurence with the vocals strong and the guitar slinger is letting his voice be heard. The power of the chorus on What Would You Do will have audiences singing along. Echoes of Hamilton Loomis in tone and delivery.

The inner funkiness of the new Laurence glimmers on Don’t Look Back. That is what I advise listeners to do; don’t compare enjoy the album for what it has to offer. The guitar and vocals play off each other and the harmonies are sweet. Nothing on the album is overplayed. The drama builds and catches you unexpectedly. The album is not a set of ten tracks that are shaped by the guitar. The instruments are the base for the song. The slick and smooth blues licks are there, just not in your face.

The refrain throughout the album is relationships, love and how it makes you feel. The yearning to be loved is explored on Keep Me Up At Night. This is another cross-genre tracks, with radio play potential outside of the inner blues circuit. The sound of the album is mature, catchy and full of great tone with textures smoothed out and an understanding of what is pleasing on the ear.

We have a deep groove laid down by Greg Smith on Bass as Laurence asks you to Give Me Your Time, listening to The Truth is time well spent. Expect it to be different no longer guitar led blues. The replacement is subtle with the feel of blues ever present just under the dominant chorus and strong song.

The title track opens with mellow simple keys from Bennett Holland picked up by Laurence’s guitar with the sweetest refrain, with a beat of Phil Wilson’s drum heralding the vocals as Jones asks, ‘Do you ever wonder what It feels like?’ The tone is mellow, reflective the gentler side then the number builds and the old energy is once again glimpsed. Looking forward to hearing the numbers live under the heat of the lights.

The album livens up with a rocky beat on Gone Away. The instruments howl and wail once again his vocals have the strength to demand centre stage and the harmonizing of the chorus stands out then the guitar punches out the lick that curls and weaves itself around the vocals. The blues guitar is back on Can’t Go On Without You.  The timing is spot-on as it is throughout the album. Loving the way there is never a battle between guitar and voice both have their time and place to make a statement across The Truth.

The album is a crossroad moment for Laurence Jones. I am positive The Truth will win him many new fans. Recorded in Miami, produced by Gregory Elias and mixed by Juan Mario Aracil; The Truth hits the mark it is an album that will be returned to and explored with pleasure every time.

G3 U.S. TOUR SET TO LAUNCH ON JANUARY 11TH

Tour features Satriani, John Petrucci (Dream Theater) & Phil Collen (Def Leppard)

“Beyond the Supernova” Documentary by ZZ Satriani to Premiere at Mill Valley Film Festival – October 14th

Joe Satriani Announcing New album For January 2018 What Happens Next. World-renowned guitar virtuoso, JOE SATRIANI, announces the release of his 16th solo album, What Happens Next, set for release, January 12, 2018 on Sony/Legacy Recordings. Just a day prior to the album release, SATRIANI revives his G3 tour entity, inviting Dream Theater’s John Petrucci and Def Leppard lead guitarist, Phil Collen to join him. The G3 tour launches on January 11 in Seattle, WA and continues across the U.S. before winding up on February 25 in Milwaukee, WI. There is a special tour pre-sale promotion giving fans the opportunity to buy concert tickets with the new album as well as VIP packages.

The new, instrumentally electrifying album features a power trio of legendary status; SATRIANI on guitar and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee bassist Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple/Black Country Communion) and drummer Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), the latter reuniting with SATRIANI for the first time since their work in the supergroup Chickenfoot. SATRIANI is once again joined by producer/engineer/mixer Mike Fraser, his frequent collaborator over the last 20 years, on What Happens Next. Fraser is well-known for recording/mixing every AC/DC album since 1990’s The Razors Edge along with his classic works with SATRIANI going back to the release of Crystal Planet in 1998.

These new tracks literally vibrate the soul with an energy rarely found these days. From the dynamic opening track, “Energy”, to the majestic crunch of “Thunder High On The Mountain”, and the easy, sensual cords of “Smooth Soul”. This unparalleled rock-rhythm section gives What Happens Next a depth of groove that sets it apart from SATRIANI’s other work.

Since its debut in 1996, SATRIANI’s G3 tour has featured the world’s greatest guitarists (everyone from Steve Vai and Eric Johnson to Steve Lukather and Robert Fripp) and has become a consistent concert hall sell-out attraction in the U.S., South America, Europe, Australia, and Japan. “I could say that I’m surprised at the durability of G3 and how much it’s grown, but in a way I’m not,” SATRIANI says with a laugh, “I think part of its charm and its mojo is in the chemistry of having three top guitarists share what they do on stage. It’s fun, it’s unpredictable, it’s wild – it’s everything you could want in a show.”

In addition to this new album and exciting tour news, a new documentary “Beyond the Supernova” shot by SATRIANI’s filmmaker son, ZZ, makes its debut at the Mill Valley Film Festival this October. The tour documentary chronicles Joe, along with his band and crew, on their last “Shockwave Supernova” tour throughout Europe and Asia.

Satriani’s Strange Beautiful Music: A Musical Memoir first released in May 2014 will now be available in paperback. Pre-orders are available now with the official release on November 7, 2017. The paperback version includes a new chapter focusing on SATRIANI’s last album, Shockwave Supernova. Read an excerpt from the new chapter HERE.

For two decades, the guitar virtuoso has traveled the world, playing to sold-out crowds as both a headliner and as founder of the all-star “G3” guitar extravaganza. SATRIANI’s studio and live recordings have sold more than 10 million copies worldwide to date and of his many solo albums, two have gone platinum and four others went gold, with 15 Grammy nominations between them. His side project, Chickenfoot, featuring former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar, former bassist Michael Anthony, and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith saw their debut album certified gold and their second studio album debuted at #9.

Walter Trout Announces New Album We’re All In This Together

FEATURING 14 FRIENDS AND A-LIST GUEST MUSICIANS.

Including John Mayall, Joe Bonamassa, Randy Bachman, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Sonny Landreth, & Warren Haynes.

Out September 1st via Provogue/Mascot Label Group

Walter Trout Announces New Album We’re All In This TogetherWalter Trout will be releasing his brand new studio album ‘We’re All In This Together’ on September 1st via Provogue/Mascot Label GroupThe album features a stellar cast of guests; John Mayall, Joe Bonamassa, Randy Bachman, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Warren Haynes, Sonny Landreth, Charlie Musselwite, Mike Zito, Robben Ford, Eric Gales, Edgar Winter, Joe Louis Walker , John Németh and his son Jon Trout

Walter Trout is the beating heart of the modern blues rock scene. Respected by the old guard. Revered by the young guns. Adored by the fans who shake his hand after the show each night. After five decades in the game, Trout is a talismanic figure and the glue that bonds the blues community together, at a time when the wider world has never been so divided. He’s also the only artist with the vision, talent and star-studded address book to pull off a project on the scale of We’re All In This Together“It was quite a piece of work to get this record together,” he admits. “But I guess I have a lot of friends, y’know…?”

Before you even hear a note, We’re All In This Together has your attention. Drafting fourteen A-list stars – including Joe Bonamassa, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, John Mayall and Randy Bachman – and writing an original song for each, Trout has made the most tantalising album of the year, and found solace after a run of solo albums that chronicled his near-fatal liver disease of 2014. “Now was the right time for this record,” he says. Battle Scars [2015] was such an intense piece of work, written with tears coming down my face. I needed a break from that, to do something fun and light-hearted. This album was joyous for me.”

Scan the credits of We’re All In This Together and you’ll find nods to every twist and turn of Trout’s electrifying backstory. There’s keys man and long-time friend Skip Edwards, who came up on the same early-’70s New Jersey circuit where Trout cut his teeth as the precocious lead guitarist for Wilmont Mews. There’s organ wizard Deacon Jones, the West Coast bandleader who brought a twenty-something Trout into the orbit of blues titans like John Lee Hooker and Big Mama Thornton. “Deacon sorta discovered me when I moved to LA in the ’70s,” reflects Trout“So I owe him.”

Since he struck out alone in 1989, Trout’s solo career has been every bit as celebrated. Touring tirelessly and spitting out classic albums that include 1990’s flag-planting Life In The Jungle, 1998’s breakthrough Walter Trout and 2012’s politically barbed Blues For The Modern Daze, he’s won international acclaim and enjoyed ever-growing sales in a notoriously fickle industry. Years on the road have also brought him tight friendships, as evidenced by 2006’s cameo-fuelled Full Circle album and this year’s unofficial sequel, We’re All In This Together. “The new album was originally gonna be called Full Circle Volume 2,”notes Trout“but I wanted to make the title a positive statement in this time of madness.”

They say you can judge a man by the company he keeps. If that’s the case, then We’re All In This Together is further proof of Walter Trout’s position at the hub of the blues scene. This is the sound of an artist not just getting by with a little help from his friends, but positively thriving, on an album that is sure to light another rocket under his blooming late career. “I’m 66 years old,” considers Trout“but I feel like I’m in the best years of my life right now. I feel better than I have in years physically. I have more energy. I have a whole different appreciation of being alive, of the world, of my family, of my career. I want life to be exciting and celebratory. I want to dig in. I want to grab life by the balls and not let go, y’know…?”

“A band heavy enough to be James Hetfield’s favourite; grungy, gritty and bluesy enough to earn the praises of ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons; and swirly enough to speak loud and clear to the Phishheads who flock to their shows to twirl the night away”

The band first return to the road at Summerstage in New York’s Central Park and have dates booked through the summer in North America and Europe, with hopes of also heading to Japan, Australia and other territories to promote the upcoming album Revolution Come… Revolution Go. After celebrating 20 years and then taking a few years to work on other projects, the album is “the new chapter opening up for the band”, according to founder Warren Haynes. It’s due for release June 9th via Spinefarm Records. You can pre-order the album here.

The 12-song set, Gov’t Mule‘s 10th studio outing, was recorded primarily with long-time collaborator Gordie Johnson (Big Sugar) in Austin, Texas, but the musicians also worked on a pair of tracks with Don Was, with whom Haynes recently toured as part of the recent The Last Waltz 40th anniversary tour.

The record features the song ‘Dreams & Songs’, which Haynes deems autobiographical, reflecting on a career that started professionally with David Allan Coe’s band in 1980 and has gone through the Dickey Betts Band, the Allman Brothers Band, the Dead, Phil Lesh & Friends and more.

“It’s about looking back at your life and family and changes,” Haynes explains, “and the general message is you never go back home — not in the literal sense of the word, but things have a way of growing in their own directions, and you wake up one day and look at everything you’ve been through and think, ‘Wow, how did I get here?’ It’s a journey and you look back on it. I’m very grateful for the opportunities that I’ve had, but it’s been a wild ride and in some ways has gone so much quicker than I would ever expect. Thankfully, I’m still going strong and my career’s as good as it’s ever been. I’m thankful for that.”

Commemorate Jeff Healey’s 50th Birthday With Heal My Soul

Jeff Healey Banner

PROVOGUE COMMEMORATES JEFF HEALEY’S 50TH BIRTHDAY WITH RELEASE OF 12 ORIGINAL SONGS ON ALBUM ‘HEAL MY SOUL’

Watch the Album trailer here:

2016 marks the release of Heal My Soul – the extraordinary lost album from Jeff Healey which has never been heard before by the public. March 25th of this year would have seen Jeff turn 50 years old and this album begins the celebration of a milestone year for a true musical icon.

Heal My Soul is the first album of new songs recorded by Jeff in over 15 years. It represents some of the most powerful and impassioned performances he ever committed to record. Under the direct supervision of the Jeff Healey Estate these tracks were painstakingly restored and brought to life bringing into focus Jeff’s unique and special gifts as an artist. The music on Heal My Soul captures Healey in full flight, displaying the virtuosity that made the Toronto native one of the most revered musicians in the world during his all-too-brief lifetime. Key tracks include “Daze Of The Night,” the soaring acoustic ballad “Baby Blue,” and Healey’s soulful take on Richard Thompson’s “I Misunderstood.”

In a joint statement, Jeff Healey Estate Co-Administrators Cristie Healey and Roger Costa said, “Heal My Soul is a project that we have wanted to tackle for years. A ‘lost’ album, it contains material recorded during one of the most creative periods in Jeff’s rock career. Until now, it has never seen the light of day. Jeff was very proud of this work and it features some of the most powerful and impassioned performances he ever committed to record. With complete creative control we’ve laboured hard, tracking down recordings, identifying the right performances, restoring them to their proper stature and mixing and mastering them from the ground up. This has been a true labour of love for us from beginning to end and we’re absolutely thrilled to be able to finally share this significant release with the world.”

Healey is remembered as one of the most outstanding guitarists and performers of the past 30 years. He lost his sight during early childhood due to retinoblastoma, a rare form of eye cancer. Playing guitar since the age of three, he developed the distinctive lap-style guitar technique that helped bring him international attention by his late teens. A Grammy nominee and JUNO Award winner, his five releases with The Jeff Healey Band totaled millions of sales worldwide. Over the course of his career, he also shared stages and earned the admiration of countless other musicians including B.B. King, Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stones, George Harrison, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and the Allman Brothers Band.

Healey died on March 2, 2008 at age 41 after a three-year battle with sarcoma cancer.

You can listen to the first new Jeff Healey song in 15 years ‘Daze of the Night’ here:

“He was SUCH a great musician… a voice that is missed.” Steve Lukather

“Jeff was one of the sweetest, most humble and talented artists I’ve met…” Bonnie Raitt

“Jeff was an amazing colleague and as a musician and a personality, in a league of his own. I t was always game on for him. His generosity and sense of humor lasted till the end. He was brave without ever being dramatic. In a word, Jeff was inspirational”Gary Scriven
