Creating a Legacy with The Cadillac Three New Album

Creating a Legacy with The Cadillac Three New Album certainly, brightens the summer as we are drenched in deep southern music vibe. The eleven track album oozes classy licks, hefty riffs, and vocals the curl around your ear and you just want to hear the tracks again and again on shuffle, in the order of the album the traditional way tracking the progression through one to eleven. Whatever takes your fancy Legacy is mighty good.

I love the listening to albums as they have been crafted by the band and producer there is a journey, a sense of purpose. Call me old-fashioned it was the way the needle flowed across the vinyl. The Cadillac Three, delivering a live show is always immense, high energy creating a sound that infects the venue with a hot party feel. Legacy, captures the feeling in a studio, dim the lights, turn up the volume crack a bottle of beer, whiskey or gin then join in the Cadillac fun.

The Cadillac Three, Jaren Johnson, guitar and vocals along with Kelby Ray (Bass steel Guitar, Dobro, Acoustic and vocals) plus the drumming and percussive beats of Neil Mason want you to smile have fun and dig the music. This is genuine Southern Rock full of whiskey, party, and politics; Cadillac Three providing a legacy of a sound full of the steamy heat and passion of the south. We visit Tennessee and homesickness for the southern sound; instantly recognizable but defining is harder. It is a mood a feel as blues collides with country via hill country music hardened by rock. It is shaped by memories and experiences of the band and makes us smile rooted in a land shaped by history and evolving and changing in this globalized world. Three tracks in, the legacy of the music is further explored with Hank & Jesus a tribute to the gifts from Dad & Mama; homespun and rocks your socks off as retro collides with modernity. The lyrics have a sassy edge; as Johnston sings of how he needs to ‘Thank Daddy for Hank, thank Mama for Jesus, Between the vinyl and the Bible …. With a touch of King James and St James’ and a touch of King Elvis’ as the bible collides with Rock N’ Roll.

The single from the album is an anthem that will have live audiences singing along wherever and whenever they play thanks to the radio play of Dang If We Didn’t. Every track is a picture book story of the legacy of music fuelled by the Southern States, as Ain’t That Country flows into a tonal change on American Slang this is a song of movement a train song without the whistles and harp. It is about movement and what we see as we travel from city to country. The urgency is resonant as the universal language unites from the commercial and popular from Coca Cola to vampires. The track proclaiming the tour. Long Hair Don’t Care; is about being yourself, having an identity you are comfortable with. A devil my care attitude will keep you going through dark days as life moves on. The beat is slower but never a ballad the guitar curls and swirls around the lyrics thoughtful and considered more country than rock. With the guest appearance of Lori McKenna, Love Me Like Liquor is a love song full of tenderness as we are drawn into Demolition Man and the closing and title track, pulling the album together asking questions what is our legacy. How did this happen? Reflecting on our mortality and Legacy? The Cadillac Three’s latest album will form a central pillar of the legacy of Southern Rock for many years to come. With the combination of deep lyrics; melodies hook onto the listener’s soul and the power of a party they have combines in Legacy.

A natural progression for the band who has been creating music together since high school, Legacy offers a deep understanding of what is truly important – relationships. Grammy-nominated, chart-topping songwriter and frontman Jaren Johnston penned the track alongside Ben Burgess and Laura Veltz delicately crafting lyrics like:
When I’m gone, my name carved in stone
Over husband, friend, and father
Survived by son, wife, and daughter
It won’t be songs that keep me livin’ on
Girl, as hall of fame as I wanna be
It’s a lot of love and a little family tree
Hell, that’s a legacy
“’Legacy’ is a song I am super proud of! In the past, I’ve given away songs of this caliber because I didn’t feel our band was ready to take on that role … or maybe I wasn’t ready to sing those types of lyrics, shared Jaren with American Songwriter. “I think our band is ready, and I am there now. This is the perfect song for where we all are in our lives.”

Another part of TC3’s past and future is their hometown heritage. On August 31st, they will take the stage for their first-ever headline show at the historic Ryman Auditorium. “You grow up seeing your favourite bands with your buddies, date nights with your love and special shows with your family here,” explains Neil. “The Ryman is an institution, and we’re really excited – and honoured – to share the night with so many people who’ve been a part of our journey. It’s always a crazy ride with The Cadillac Three!”

The band also returns to their second home of the UK as part of their ‘Long Hair Don’t Care’ tour, playing nine dates across the country, including a highly anticipated show in the capital at O2 Kentish Town Forum.

They will be joined by special guests Brothers Osborne and Broken Witt Rebels. “We all may be from different parts of the world but it’s really cool to have the spirit of a song bring us together!” said Kelby. “We’re really looking forward to introducing some new tunes.”
