KING KING – EXILE & GRACE October 2017 UK TourForthcoming Album Exile & Grace was recorded at Superfly Studios, the quartet’s first album of new material since 2015’s multi-award winning “Reaching For The Light features the upcoming single “(She Don’t) Give Me No Lovin’”.
The new single was mixed by Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters, Feeder and Therapy) and is released on Friday 23rd June.

Says King King’s frontman and guitarist, Alan Nimmo, “Exile & Grace definitely has a rockier feel and sound to it. We are following our influences from the Classic Rock genre, Bad Company, Whitesnake and Thunder. We really set out to challenge ourselves with this album. We’ve stepped up the quality of songwriting and pushed ourselves physically in both performance and delivery!”

King King’s 2011 debut album “Take My Hand” was crowned Blues Album of the month in Classic Rock. Following this success, King King’s next album Standing in The Shadows was the highlight of Classic Rock Blues magazine’s Top 50 Albums of 2013. It’s no surprise then that King King won Best Album and Best Band at the 2012 and the 2014 British Blues Awards.

2015 saw the band fly even higher with the release of their “Reaching For The Light” album. King King were nominated for Best New Band at Classic Rock’s prestigious Roll of Honour and inducted into the British Blues Awards Hall of Fame for three consecutive Band wins.

King King have played in all corners of the globe. From the Mahindra Festival in Mumbai, India, to Ottawa Bluesfest in Canada, and numerous festivals throughout the whole of Europe. One of the highlights of 2016 was a UK arena tour with the mighty Thunder, which included playing to over 10,000 people at Wembley Arena and a sell-out headline show on home turf in Glasgow.

Their headlining tour in 2017 took them to mainland Europe and the UK. The band are back with a vengeance in October 2017 to perform songs from their new album “Exile & Grace.”
King King are widely recognised as the UK’s hottest rock blues band, the band continue to push the envelope by performing unforgettable live shows with first class musicianship.

King King live shows are a not to be missed event – this is what Bluesdoodles has said:-

Artrix, Bromsgrove – Reaching For the Light, Bluesdoodles said ..album of platinum proportions…..  Tonight we heard tracks that prove a studio album sounds even better when the music is live and you can see, feel and hear up close and personal. King King the quartet that has a cascade of sounds with layers of tonal textures ……….with the sparkling vocals of Alan, he can whip up a frenzy, make you cry, laugh and definitely makes you want to get up and dance it is the infection that is King King live.

The Globe, Cardiff – Crazy, yes, the room went crazy with this perennial favourite. Then far too soon it was time for an encore Let Love In and another opportunity for Choir Globe to get involved.

City Hall, Salisbury – This is a night many will talk about do you remember when South African Dan Patlansky and then the mighty King King took Salisbury by a Blues storm. Yes, King King Reaching Spiraling Heights in Salisbury tonight.

King King UK Tour With Bad Touch Summer 2017

King King UK Tour With Bad Touch Summer 2017In 2014, King King’s second album Standing in the Shadows, firmly established them as a formidable force on the British Blues scene.  They still retain that accolade today with a growing legions of fans.

King King features Alan Nimmo (vocals, guitar), Lindsay Coulson (bass), Wayne Proctor (drums) and Bob Fridzema (keyboards).  The band are widely recognized as the UK’s hottest rock blues band. They continue to push the envelope by providing their fans with the best live experience and musicianship.

Says King King’s frontman, Alan Nimmo, “We’re really excited to perform the new single live. It’s rockier than our previous material, but it still has an inherent King King sound to it. The new single is a nice taster from the upcoming album.”

Having scored three radio hit singles on Planet Rock radio with the songs Crazy, Hurricane, and Rush Hour, the band recently went to Planet Rock’s studios to perform three acoustic tracks that will be aired on the station in early 2017.

King King UK Tour With Bad Touch Summer 2017Bad Touch – the 5-piece rock band from Norfolk, who recently supported the Kentucky Headhunters on their critically acclaimed sell-out UK tour, recently released their second studio album Truth Be Told on Bad Touch Records, with distribution via Cadiz, on Friday 2nd December 2016.

To coincide with the new album, the band embarked on a UK co-headline tour on November 19th with the Australian rockers Massive.  They recently announced a March 2017 UK tour with Broken Witt Rebels.

The new album, recorded at Mwnci Studios in Wales, includes the singles 99% and Made To Break, both remixed for radio by Rolling Stones engineer and co-producer, Chris Kimsey.  In early 2017, Made To Break will be released as a single alongside an official music video.

“99% is a great song to ride around in cars and drink beer and smoke pot and listen to rock and roll on the radio,” says Chris Kimsey. “Not that I drink beer or smoke pot , but I remember the simplicity of music and life so it’s good to hear it is alive and kicking with Bad Touch.”

King King turned up the Blues thermostat Live in Cardiff

Friday 13th bringing joy to The Globe Cardiff as Blues Rock drenches the packed audience with a medley of chords, lyrics and emotions. Special guest Broken Witt Rebels and the mighty King King turned up the Blues thermostat, the venue and the music was scorching.

Sold Out, music to the ears of bands, venues and promoters alike, as Cardiff gives a loud and enthusiastic shout out for the Blues Rock power that is King King with their special guests Broken Witt Rebels.

King King turned up the Blues thermostat Live in CardiffOpening the night, getting Friday 13th of to a rocking good start are the young band from Birmingham receiving lots of attention for all the right reasons. Having seen them play a festival set at Planet Rockstock 2016,  my expectations were very high. So do not let Bluesdoodles down! Did they No they did NOT… why the set was full of rock and roll sparkle the glints of razor sharp sapphire blue fused into the rocking foundation of the Rebels sound.

TheyOpened with Low, from the critically acclaimed EP Georgia Pine. This is a number that raises the temperature as the band took us on a musical journey with tracks from this and previous release Howlin.  The musical journey was a road of interest full of hefty licks, and gentler curves. The vocals of Danny Core are immense as he introduces a new number into the mix Bang Bang.  finishing with Guns, this is a band that is blazing a trail that you want to get on board. Many bands have potential, many promise so much. There is no argument that Broken Witt Rebels are a tight unit. The timing is impeccable, the warmth with which they thank the crowd is heartfelt. The stagecraft is mature and they have the hunger to rise to their promised destiny.  The quartet collectively making a sound that entertains are James Tranter, Luke Davis, James Dudley and Danny Core. The band’s exciting melding of styles, smooth and raw, smoky and intense this is music refusing to be bent into a genre just to raise your pulse. Now it is down to  Broken Witt Rebels; it is in their hands they have the energy, talent and drive to make it all the way.

King King turned up the Blues thermostat Live in Cardiff

There was an unplanned extended break due to technical gremlins. Well, it was Friday 13th, but thanks to the unsung heroes of a gig the sound man and King King’s roadie the troublesome lead was dispatched and the show was ready to start. Everyone in a packed Globe ready, waiting and eager to hear King King, and the voice of Alan Nimmo following the operation last year.

King King turned up the Blues thermostat Live in CardiffOpening the night with Lose Control, the opening track of the Live album we play when the band are not in town. The set list captured the essence that is King King. The d combination of Wayne Proctor on Drums and Lindsay Coulson completing the rhythm section and to the left of Alan –  Bob Fridzema, with is Hammond C and Piano. In Alan’s own words as King King kick start of 2017 with their first show of the year “this is going to be some gig!”. The crowd of fans hung onto every word and note sung, and those who were hearing the band for the first time live were enthralled.  His voice is back, full of emotional cadences and tone every word he sang with pure delight the smile said it all. Rush Hour, from Reaching For The Light,  was stunning!! The addition of a 300 strong choir sending a tingle down the spine as Alan conducted hearing the lyrics being sung to him. A magical moment, only being there in that moment really explains the feeling, Being in the company of people loving the music, celebrating the moment. Live music is made up of thousands of these special moments. Bob Fidzema’s dancing King King turned up the Blues thermostat Live in Cardiffhands brings Long History of Love to life, then More Than I Can Take, from Standing in The Shadows took the roof of the place. Then two songs played with a dedication. The first was recorded for Facebook live and was for Alan’s Mum who has not been well. Get Well soon shouted The Globe, hello Alan’s mum roared the capacity crowd and then You Stopped The Rain, what a song the emotional power hits everyone who listens to the number in a different way but always deeply personal. followed by Take A Look, not often played live and a favourite of Merch Man and Driver Mike. Alan as ever connects with the important things in a band’s journey. With the new remodelled voice giving Alan confidence and a vigour that spread across the room his excitement at King King playing on a stage again was infectious. Crazy, yes, the room went crazy with this perennial favourite. Then far too soon it was time for an encore Let Love In and another opportunity for Choir Globe to get involved.

Rescheduled Tour Dates dictated by Alan Nimmo's VocalsKING KING RE-SCHEDULE BULK OF NOVEMBER UK TOUR DATES TO 2017

Due to a recent vocal cord condition with lead singer and guitarist Alan Nimmo, the majority of King King’s November 2016 UK tour dates with special guests Broken Witt Rebels, have been re-scheduled to January, February, March and May 2017. The news follows the release of the band’s first ever live album ‘King King Live’ that went to #1 in Amazon’s Best Sellers Blues Rock Chart, and the upcoming release of their radio remix of their new single ‘Waking Up’.

Says King King’s frontman, Alan Nimmo, “I’ve seen my ENT specialist. He put a camera down my throat to look at what condition my vocal cords were in. Unfortunately, there’s still a good bit of inflammation and redness. I’ve been working with a vocal coach to build strength and stamina to aid my recovery.
“We will be re-scheduling most of the dates on the UK tour to January, February and March, however, we will commit to the remaining four shows on the November UK tour, beginning at Edinburgh’s Queen’s Hall (25 November), continuing through to the Live Rooms in Chester (26 November), The Grand Venue in Clitheroe (27 November) and wrapping up in London at Islington Assembly Hall (29 November).”

In the last six months, the buzz around self-released, Birmingham blues rock band Broken Witt Rebels has reached a deafening roar. So much so that the band have rushed out their latest single, Guns, to capitalize on fan-driven interest. The official video for Guns has generated almost 400,000 views on YouTube in less than 48 hours.

Chosen by the fans, Guns is now the second single to be taken from the band’s <strong>Georgia Pine EP. Produced by Tom Gittins (Robert Plant), the previous single, Low, was a featured track of the week on Radio X, and play-listed on Planet Rock, who are currently playing Guns.

GUNS pays homage to their hometown of Birmingham with a melody and energy that tears through you, with the refrain. “Born and raised where Guns are made, they burn bright like a cigarette.”

The Birmingham four-piece is comprised of James Tranter (guitar), Danny Core (vocals), Luke Davis (bass) and James Dudley (drums). Their bluesy southern swagger has drawn favourable comparisons with Kings of Leon, Alabama Shakes and The Black Keys.

Feeling Exhilarated at last a King King Live Album. We have waited, was it worth the wait… Yes, It was and we can shout across the land at last we can have on tap that Live magic that is King King.

Live, has captured everything a King King gig has to offer. We have the Alan Nimmo wit and the crowd’s warm heartfelt appreciation with ovations and cheers and then the silence of a mass of people listening intently. Recorded on the 14th May 2016 at Glasgow O2 ABC, in front of a home crowd with that added energy of a homecoming for Alan.

King King always exhilarates, they are a unit of musicians who build on each other’s emotional energy making as Aristotle said “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts!”

Opening the twelve track album with Lose Control, which is a certainty with King King’s music; this is a jump up and down number that will raise the temperature at any venue. Glasgow is on fine form as Alan thanks the audience before launching into a Fabulous Thunderbirds number that is always sublime when it receives the King King treatment Wait On Time is no different tonight. The guitar from Alan weeps and pulls at the rock n roll vibe that Wayne picks up with a clash of the cymbal as the guitar beguiles you and pulls you in to a Nimmo musical hug.

Love. Alan, sings  “…all I have to do is close my eyes….” and instantly I am transported to the front of the crowded venue and see the kilt, Bob’s smile behind the keys, Lindsey’s cheeky grin and Wayne behind the drums with stick raised with a purpose you can actually  smell and feel the atmosphere that is a King King live show.

Every track is a winner there are no favourites they all send that ecstatic musical shiver down the spine but as ever You Stopped The Rain dedicated to his brother Stevie and Frankie Millers, Jealousy raises hairs on my arms and I hold by breath so that every nuance of the numbers are not missed. Heavenly!

The tempo ebbs and flows  and as ever King King send you a little bit Crazy, as they pull out all the stops  to entertain with top-notch music.  Closing with Let Love In, once again we have entered their world they thank us for coming we thank them once again for keeping music fun and live.  The set list takes on a stroll from their current award-winning studio album Reaching For The Light, dipping into the back catalogue of both Standing In the Shadows and Take My Hand.

If you have been to a King King gig this is the whole event boxed and tied in tartan ribbon for you to enjoy again and again as we wait for the next tour to begin.  For a  glorious eighty-four minutes reality is suspended and you are transported into the land of rock-blues wow! Land with King King Live!

Back On Tour – November Brings Back King King

NOTE!!! King King DATES Re-Scheduled

SEE link HERE For New Dates

Due to a recent vocal cord condition with lead singer and guitarist Alan Nimmo, the majority of King King’s November 2016 UK tour dates with special guests Broken Witt Rebels, have been re-scheduled to January, February, March and May 2017.

Lindsay Coulson Bass and the keys of Bob Fridezma joins the mighty guitar and the quartet that is King King weaves their magic. You have the album, you have tickets to see the next show why buy Rush Hour as a single I hear you ask? This 4 minutes and 29 seconds of magic more than a marketing tool this is Rush Hour re-invented. Having played the number to the applauding crowds when opening for Thunder and then on a headline tour with Laurence  Jones. The band took time to go back into the studio to re-work shape and nail the blues-rock power that is a medium paced delight not a helter-skelter ride to the finish. Rush Hour.  Now re-mix the beauty of the lyrics the melodic unfolding of the tune honed to prefection with a new energy having played the song live.

The record label Manhaton have returned to Superfly Studios and mixed at Y Dream Studios, with Bob Ludwig from Gateway Mastering engineering a single that should be Number One for weeks. The Globe Reaching For The Light with King King

King King WM-7284

The Globe Reaching For The Light with King King

Opening tonight to a sell-out crowd at The Globe in Cardiff was Laurence ‘call me husky’ Jones, carrying on like the trooper despite a sore throat. It was a warm welcome from the many Laurence fans who still remember the young boy who played and delighted Cardiff many years ago. With a new drummer Phil Wilson and bassist Roger Innis this was going to be blues all the way from the dim blue light semi-illuminating the stage (The Globe is currently having the lighting updated). The set saw Laurence opening with a baritone guitar adding another weapon to his guitar driven blues armoury. This was a short set in which Laurence fitted a basket full of blues vibes. Within the set we were treated to All I Need off his current CD, What’s It Gonna Be. Good Morning Blues, a legendary Leadbelly number that Laurence played earlier in the year on stage at Carnegie Hall for the Leadbelly festival was the stand-out number for me, and the set was closed with a tribute to the late great BB King. Less singing tonight and more guitar blues breaks was welcomed by many and definitely warmed the atmosphere ready for the mighty King King.

It was richly deserved that King King who have travelled many miles and played at gigs when a few dozen people have loyally turned up, know that the fruits of their valiant efforts have been rewarded they are a name that people travel to see not once but as often as possible on a tour. The cheers were warm and full of delighted King King WM-7268anticipation as the jammed-to-the-rafters venue welcomed King King on stage. We were delighted that the kilted scot Alan Nimmo and his band of musical boys were back in town. We have the albums but King King live have a verve and an irresistible charm of rock that kicks the blues out of your soul.

Opening with Lose Control, the audience may have been at fever pitch King King just played on with controlled passion that filled the rafters of The Globe with a warm sound. Alan Nimmo out front throughout the evening displayed the twin talents that make him such a superb front-man. His guitar playing was at times raw, then gentle and always sweet. Then he opens his mouth and his tenor delights as the words are caressed and formed by his silvery tongue. The emotion is added to lyrics that make you want to rock n’ roll. Cry and sigh he nailed every song tonight. His confidence is high having been opening with the band for among others Thunder and John Mayall; this he uses to great effect. The crowd warms to his cheeky smile and tales he had the Welsh audience singing loudly and with delight he even said we had the job. King King like all great bands is more than the sum of the total parts. To Alan’s left is the mighty Bob Fridzema on keys and Hammond C3 he produces a wall of sound that adds another tonal layer of chords. His playing can be intense and then on other tracks gentle, a subtle whisper, adding hidden depths. To his right Lindsay Coulson, with his trademark dark blue bass and King King embellished strap; an evergreen presence who has shared every moment of King King’s journey. Sitting behind his Ludwig drum kit sits the awesome pivotal force Wayne Procter and his drumming. He adds a deep beating tone and texture to King King. What a quartet! With each year a new signature arises from the set list and at the moment it is Rush Hour from their current album Reaching for The Light. The whole set was a standout – Frankie Miller’s Jealousy full of emotional control as Alan combines guitar work that zings and his vocals purr and curl around the six-strings. Tonight, You Stopped the Rain was dedicated not to his older brother Stevie Nimmo, but his mother who is poorly in hospital. Everyone at the Globe sent speedy recovery wishes. Rather than go through the set list which is below it was the atmosphere that King King live creates that is what makes them a must see band in 2016. The instrumental included in the set was a fantastic addition. King King WM-7343Having Bob to open and lead the tempo adding some funky chords, subtle jazz interludes then back into rocking good blues. All four had fun following the path Bob was musically leading them and gave the instruments a moment to shine above Alan’s vocals. Live music will always have a special frisson of energy and emotion. King King delivers this live energy that is plugged directly into your musical antenna and sends shivers of delight up your spine and deep into your soul and memory. They manage to make you dance, laugh and cry and have a thoroughly great time.

As King King’s reputation grows and the expectation of the audience before a note is struck rises they have to continue to grow and showcase the music that will keep everyone coming back for more. Tonight King King surpassed expectations they were on fire, the selection of tracks from across their career fitted the bill, leaving us wanting more and counting down the days when they are back on a stage so we can hear King King live, sparkling and full of blues in their soul that has the edge of rock to spice it up.
