The Bad Flowers Single delivers Thunder Child Check It Out

The Bad Flowers Single delivers Thunder Child Check It Out

The Bad Flowers Single delivers Thunder Child Check It Out

The Bad Flowers Single delivers Thunder Child Check It Out. Why? I smell rock that sizzles. The sound builds and builds with a rumble and roll of riff mayhem. The Black Country once again is serving up rock that packs a punch, full of melodic undertones pulling through on riffs that clap like a mighty thunderstorm. The single opens with a burst of cymbals introducing you to drummer Karl Selickis’; the beat is picked up with deep and full bass grooves provided by Dale Tonks. Then the outpouring of vocalist Tom Leighton. This is a rock power trio that keeps the music pumped up and full of intense tonal shapes and textured rhythms.  The Bad Flowers have a distinctive, compelling sound the three musicians interact creating a maelstrom of rock a bouquet of sound that no simple ribbon can hold in place as the notes are bent and turned into Thunder Child.

The ‘B’ side completes the tasty single with Lions Blood, two tracks that definitely leave you wanting more of the trio’s Black Country rock, full of fuzz, heavy grooves and a rawness that keeps an edge to the music which is sharp and imaginative with an energy. This means that the band are in a hurry to be noticed. They will achieve that with this couplet of rock tones as Thunder Child flows into Lions Blood. The single, Thunder Child, unsurprisingly is getting radio play and the trio is being noticed as they embark on an 8-day tour; including five dates supporting The Picturebooks in October.

The Bad Flowers, deliver a sweet rock riffy sound do not miss out on the chance to be in on the action.  Having formed in 2014 they have been making formidable rock foot in the past whilst full of  21st-century rock sensibilities.

Collide riff driven first single from BCCIV

Collide riff driven first single from BCCIV Collide riff driven first single from BCCIV

Black Country Communion

Collide riff driven first single from BCCIV

Collide riff driven first single from BCCIV  just what is required as Summer fades into Autumn. The news that Black Country Communion are releasing BCCIV on 22nd September via Mascot Label Group fills the world with a rich golden album cover of a fiery Phoenix rising, the album artwork reflecting the coming together of the supergroup four years after the release of Afterglow.  The original quartet is back together again, Glenn Hughes, Joe Bonamassa Derek Sherinian and Jason Bonham joining forces to deliver rock that fills the room.

The album BBCIV will definitely cause a stir, welcomed by fans of Glenn Hughes and Joe Bonamassa and the Black Country Communion hard rock driven explosion of sonic delights.  As Joe says; If you’re looking for a folk album, this ain’t the one.”

The album was written over four months, expanding and deepening the sound on the three previous albums.  All ten tracks on the album are co-written by Glenn Hughes and Joe Bonamassa.  Glenn wrote all the lyrics on the album except for the song ‘The Last Song For My Resting Place’ written by Joe.

We have a taster as the first single Collide is released.

Opening the album, the single lays down the ground the album will travel over, on a collision course of being the song to set the pace of the album. Collide was a collision of the original riff played by Glenn Hughes, written on the first day of working on BCCIV, then Joe came over and by lunch the song was complete. A collision of talents of Glen and Joe have created a riff driven number that swirls with rocking force through the speaker and cascades in tonal shape and force.

Opening with a count we have the opening chords and then Glenn’s vocals power in. With a controlled screech of determination Jason’s drums pick up the groove with a cascade of symbols and the guitar and bass drive Collide on to a point of no return. The throttle is eased and Derek’s keys add a tonal contrast. We have sonic distortion as the lead break pulls you deep into the music with its classic feel with added gritty edginess rock of the twenty-first century.  After just over four minutes you are left breathless with anticipation of what the next nine tracks will bring to the speaker. A date for your diary is definitely 22nd September for the big reveal.

Collide riff driven first single from BCCIV

I am confident that Collide is a true reflection of the sound tempo and tonal shape of BCCIV. As Glenn explains “I wanted the new album to physically shake your soul. It’s a wake-up call.”

Collide riff driven first single from BCCIV Black Country Communion back together for the 4th studio album. Collide ensures a collision course for a torrent of accolades that will challenge the Autumn fall.

Shaman’s Harvest Reveal New Single ‘THE COME UP’

The first release from anticipated album Red Hands Black Deeds

Out July 28th on Mascot Records.

Announcing their brand new studio album ‘Red Hands Black Deeds’, Shaman’s Harvest have released the first single ‘The Come Up’.

Liz Aiken at Bluesdoodles loved the upbeat driving rhythm that worked on many different levels, Pulled you through the music and open the door deep into the  lyrics. A melodic rock song that is the perfect antidote to the overdose of negativity that surrounds us. This s Rock n’ Roll that is happy to get a hand from the sunny Mowtown vibe. With its upbeat tones the swagger connects you to lyrics that delves into depression that affects so many people in the troubled and often confusing world of today.

“There’s so much negativity on social media today  a lot of people struggling with real issues and with where we’re at as a nation,” says singer Nathan Hunt. But, “The Come Up” is also an acknowledgment of the singer’s own battle with depression. “It’s therapeutic for myself,” he says. “It’s just about sometimes when you just can’t change shit, you got to realize you can’t mold everything in your life and you kind of just have to roll with the punches,” says Hunt, who overcame throat cancer in 2014 that could’ve derailed the band, but didn’t.

Having listened to the first single now waiting to hear the whole album. I have been led t o believe by the record label that Red Hands Black Deeds is a darker, visceral, and more layered sound than past repertoire. The album ranges from the ominous, haunting vibes of the title track prelude, “A Longer View,” “The Devil In Our Wake,” and “Scavengers” – which could fit just as easily on a horror film soundtrack as it does on this rock band’s album – to quieter, more vulnerable moments as heard on “Tusk and Bone” and “Long Way Home.” Lyrically, the band also ventured into new territory, taking on the current political, social, and economic struggles the USA is facing as a nation under the new administration. Red Hands Black Deeds touches upon the darker nature inside all of us,” says Hunt. “The whole record has a contrast and push and pull tension – a juxtaposition of good and bad or questioning what is right and wrong. The record ended up having a concept, though we weren’t intending it to,” says Hunt.

The writing of the record began in November 2016 at the time of the US presidential election, so it’s no wonder there are social and political undertones to many of the songs. “The tension in the record kind of speaks for itself. There’s a dark anxiety, tension-filled feeling that reflects what’s going on in the world,” says Hamler.

Their Mascot Records debut, Smokin’ Hearts & Broken Guns in 2014, garnered more than 33 million streams. The album’s “In Chains” peaked at #11 on the Media Base chart after a run of 22 weeks at Active Rock radio. It also spent over four months in the Top 10 of iTunes Metal Songs Chart. The song’s video has more than 3 million views on YouTube, while the band has a cumulative 8 million YouTube views.

So the count down begins as we re-listen to Smokin’ Hearts & Broken Guns and the sneak preview with the first single to be released ‘The Come Up’ from Red Hand Black Deeds.

Rob Tognoni The TasMANian Devil New Album Brave Now Out

Having heard Rob Tognoni live at HRH Blues 2016, I was excited at the opportunity  to listen to the single Brave from the album. Bluesdoodles predicts that the  single will get lots of airplay. Why? It is strong, brave rock with a hard vein of blues flowing through. The vocals have power and purpose the drumming kicks up the beat and then the blue icing that fills the track  Rob Tognoni’s guitar. The tone, pace the riffs that fit into a pocket earworm that you want to carry around this is a confident number that sets out the stall and makes you run to get the album Brave.  This is easily done as Rob is on Tour in the UK throughout November.

‘MOONLIGHT’ – NEW SINGLE OUT NOW

Rising star Dan Owen has announced his brand new single ‘Moonlight’, celebrating the release of his latest EP Open Hands and Enemies out today through LAB Records.

The single premiered with The Independent who said, “Shrewsbury-born singer-songwriter Dan Owen is one to watch… Owen has a voice quite beyond his years, is a versatile guitarist, and judging by his opening performance for Birdy at the Eventim Apollo he’s an electrifying live act as well.”

‘Moonlight’ is a distinctly intimate insight into Dan’s stunning songwriting and jaw-dropping vocal abilities. It’s one of the most touching moments on the Open Hands and Enemies EP, a haunting love ballad that finds Dan at his most effortlessly smooth.

http://bit.ly/2dg70UkBluesdoodles reviewed the album  –  The only complaint I have and it is a big one, Open Hands and Enemies is immense for an E.P. but Bluesdoodles wants a full-blown twelve track album so that we can get to know all the intricacies that makes Dan Owen such a marvelous musician. Federal Charm stream new single “Silhouette” . The song features on their Across The Divide album, which launched last year via Wire Sound

Bluesdoodles chatted with Paul Bowe on 7th October the day Silhouette was released this is what he had to say —-BD: Do you have a favourite/ special track on the album? And why?
PB: My favourite has always and remains Silhouette. I love playing it live it gets to me more than anything else we play. The vocal production shapes the meaning of the words. The chorus works so well, every time I hear it or play Silhouette it gives me goose bumps. When I play the song live I hear what we were trying to achieve in the studio and look forward to playing it every night.

BD: This brings us neatly onto the single, Silhouette being released on 7th October what are your hopes for the single?
PB: I am obviously delighted that Silhouette is being released as a single showcasing Across The Divide and our music. What an opportunity with air play on Planet Rock and a video that is being made this Saturday exciting times.

Dan Owen Stunning Made To Love You Single

Dan Owen

Shrewsbury singer/songwriter Dan Owen has announced his brand new single ‘Made To Love You’, released this Friday (August 12th).

Dan Owen Stunning Made To Love You Single

It’s a hauntingly beautiful, heart-on-sleeve break-up ballad from the husky-voiced 24-year old. Examining what keeps people together yet drives them apart, the song comes from Dan’s personal experience supporting a friend who was suffering in an abusive relationship.

LISTEN TO ‘MADE TO LOVE YOU’ HERE

Dan Owen originally rose to prominence after a video of him playing a stunning cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘The Ballad Of Hollis Brown’ live was uploaded by a random audience member to Reddit and became an overnight viral internet sensation.

Since then Dan’s own talents as a songwriter have blossomed and the result is a captivating selection of songs. His debut EP Bad For Me was released to high praise in 2015 and now ‘Made To Love You’ is the first taste of his upcoming Open Hands And Enemies EP.

Open Hands And Enemies has Dan straddling swooning soul, throaty blues and carefully crafted pop sentiments, and is due for release on September 14th through LAB Records.

A seasoned veteran of the road despite his young age, Dan has just completed a 30-date European tour in support of Birdy. The singer is such a huge fan of Dan that she finished every night of her tour inviting him onstage to duet on her 2015 hit ‘Let It All Go’. He’s also been invited back to head out on the road with her again for more shows in the autumn.

Dan will also be playing his own headline London show on September 7th at St Pancras Old Church.

Black Betty Force Of Nature Debut Single

Sari Black Betty Single-

Black Betty Force Of Nature Debut Single

Sari Schorr, is a Force of Nature. The reworking of Leadbelly’s Black Betty whips up a whirlwind of sound and as the music gains force it picks up like grains of sand collective memories of Black Betty back to the blues tour de force that is Huddie William Ledbetter.

The fates conspired when the Leadbelly Fest gave Black Betty to Sari, combining her vocal power with the magic of her band The Engine Room. The single from her debut album whets your musical appetite for the full album Force of Nature, produced by Mike Vernon ad released on Friday 2nd September 2016.

Black Betty, Force Of Nature Debut Single is the perfect introduction to the power of the album as it combines the intuitive and artistry of Sari’s vocals with Innes Sibun’s burning emotive guitar. This is a pairing that builds on each other’s creativity and into the mix add John Baggot on keys, Nani Conde on bass and completing the rhythm section is Jose Mena on drums, with Mike Vernon putting in an appearance with some additional percussion.

Sari’s Black Betty is different, not a copy of 1977 version by Ram Jam but deeper slower, darker a woman telling Black Betty’s tale. It is a song that is sung forcefully, picking out the grim bones of the song that is about a slave, rape and cracking of the whip.

The single to be released on Monday 8th August is a radio edit with 3 minutes and 23 seconds of power this is shimmering electric blues that makes for compelling listening. The rest of the album promises to build on the power of the single this is blues that opens the portals to a dark place with glorious melodic riffs and hooks.
