Antwerp’sTriggerfinger will be releasing the strutting and swaggering new album ‘Colossus’ on 25th August via their new home Mascot Records.
The Belgian based trio (Ruben Block, vocals & guitar; Paul Van Bruystegem, bass; Mario Goossens, drums) have been exploding across Europe and have played an intensive 200 shows in the last 20 months, which also saw them support Muse on their sold out 50,000 capacity Stadium show in Aix-les-Bains, France and Park Live Festival in Russia.
Insatiable for the live stage they have opened for Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Rolling Stones (twice), Thin Lizzy, Clutch, Big Sugar and Therapy? They were asked to step in at Pinkpop to replace the mighty Foo Fighters who pulled out with Dave Grohl injured and they’ve sold out the 8000 capacity Vorst in Brussels, the Paradiso in Amsterdam an impressive 10 times as well as the 6000 capacity Heinkenen Music Hall. They also performed in the boxing ring during the Heavyweight title fight between Wladimir Klitschko (UKR) and Tony Thompson (USA) at Stade de Suisse in Bern, Switzerland which was broadcast across the world, including screens on Broadway – check out the performance here.
COLOSSUS, Triggerfinger’s fifth album and debut on Mascot Records sees the Belgian band adding new flavours to the mix.
“We wanted to get out of the rat race for a while”, Ruben Block admits. “The first step was doing a few collaborations with other musicians that would kick us out of our comfort zone. It made us look at our songs in a different way. The second step was building our own little studio where we could work and wail 24/7. All amps on 10 at two in the morning? No problem! But there was more to it than sheer volume. The previous albums were all built on roaring energy and the live interaction between the three of us. That was not our main concern anymore. This time the song would be king. ‘Anything goes’, that was our motto. Acoustic instruments, samples, keyboards, percussion, two bass guitars: as long as they served the song, we were happy.”
By now the question was, who could mold all this material into a new Triggerfinger album? Ever since the early nineties two names had popped up regularly on some of their favorite records. Produced by Mitchell Froom and engineered by Tchad Blake as a team and separately they’ve worked with variety of bands and artist from Los Labos to Elvis Costello, from Bonnie Raitt to Pearl Jam.
After meeting with Mitchell Froom in June of 2016 the band set up camp in Froom’s home studio in Santa Monica for six weeks, and they hit it off instantly. The subdued producer quickly became a fourth band member, adding eerie sounds coaxed from his collection of vintage keyboards. Los Lobos’ saxophone giant Steve Berlin added his mojo on three tracks.
Colossus was the first song where the band worked with two basses. Block: “Ditching the guitar really opened up the groove, and the combination of two bass guitars was very intriguing, sonically. It was heavy, but fresh at the same time. Images and pieces of conversations flashed through my mind, like a collage, and over this monumental groove I began to chant: ‘Colossus! Colossus!’ It stuck.”
“This must be the boldest thing we’ve ever done”, Ruben Block says. “We’ve been fans of Mitchell Froom’s work for a long time, but working with your heroes can be a dangerous thing. Mitchell proved to be comforting and challenging at the same time. He opened so many doors for us, and with COLOSSUS he put us on track for the next few years.”
Until the release date on 25th August 2017 you can watch the brand new video for Flesh Tight here:
Bluesdoodles has listen – very impressive huge driving riffs – definitely a teaser that leads you intrigued as to what the rest of the forthcoming album will deliver. Flesh Tight definitely unveils a hint of the power of Colossus from Triggerfinger. The video has a strutting audacity that the rhythm picks up as the music struts its stuff out of the speaker.
Little Hurricane, the San Diego dirty-blues duo of front man Anthony “Tone” Catalano and drummer Celeste “C.C.” Spina are gearing up for the release of their third full-length studio albumSame Sun Same Moonon April 14, on their new homeMascot Records
Their story began in San Diego, where Little Hurricane formed. Having recently resumed playing drums after an eight-year hiatus, CC placed a musicians-wanted ad on Craigslist. Among the myriad of respondents was Tone, a studio engineer who’d worked with artists ranging from John Paul Jones to Gwen Stefani. The two musicians were neighbours who had never met, and bonded over mutual interests including the blues, unusual and vintage gear, and their individual experiences playing in high school jazz bands. A year later, Little Hurricanewon three San Diego Music Awards, including Album of the Year for 2011 debut Homewrecker.Little Hurricane’s explosive live show soon landed them slots at major festivals including Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza, and garnered media attention from outlets including Rolling Stone, which profiled them in an extensive behind-the-scenes piece at SXSW 2012.
The evolution of Little Hurricane is especially evident on the album’s first single “OTL”, a love song woven from understated keyboards and intertwined vocals. Married in summer 2016, the creative partners elected to openly share their happiness with listeners for the first time.

FEST “LIVE” TOKYO FEATURING THE ORIGINAL MSG VOCALISTS
GARY BARDEN, GRAHAM BONNET AND ROBIN MCAULEY
RELEASED FRIDAY 24th MARCH 2017
Says Schenker, “It’s a miracle that after all these years, something like this took place with the original band members of “M.S.G.”. Being able to go back to those days and celebrate the music is an exciting experience for us, as well as for old and new fans. To being able to re-experience, and for the new audience to get a feel of what it was like, is incredibly enjoyable.”
Continues Schenker, “It’s an amazing feeling to have all of my M.S.G. Family from the ’80’s performing together and especially with Graham Bonnet, who I never got to play any concerts after our Assault Attack album that was originally released in 1982. Fortunately, being able to have the participation of original M.S.G. members such as Gary Barden, Chris Glen (bass) and Ted McKenna (drums) being part of it, and somehow, to perform with Robin McAuley and Steve Mann (guitar, keyboards) again as well, is pretty awesome.”

Broken Witt Rebels experienced success in 2016 with the release of their 5-track EP featuring the singles “Low” and “Guns” which received airplay on Planet Rock and XS Manchester, while “Low” was Track of theWeek on Radio X.
On October 27th, they won “Best Rock Act” at the first annual Unsigned Music Awardsheld at The Troxy in London, and closed the Awards by performing “Guns”. BWR were also nominated for “Best Live Act”.
The title of BWR EP Georgia Pine comes from an old stoner reference “As high as a Georgia Pine“. For BWR, the metaphor is more about their ascension to the top. It’s clear they haven’t come to make up the numbers.
With the title track “Georgia Pine“ as their most recent single, the Rebels show their softer side, with Danny Core’s trademark howl melts hearts with the impassioned lyrics “You’re always there for me.”
BWR have amassed over 1 million video plays and “Guns” became the 9th most shared and play-listed track on Spotify in the UK during July. With a major label deal around the corner, the future’s looking bright.
Broken Witt Rebels are a band not to missed and with Bad Touch as will this is a double live delight
Bad Touch has dovetailed the album release, and UK co-headline tour on November 19th with the Australian rock band Massive.
The new album, which was recorded at Mwnci Studios in Wales, features the singles“99%” and “Made ToBreak”, both *remixed for radio by the legendary Rolling Stones engineer and co-producer, Chris Kimsey. Both singles will be accompanied by official music videos.
“99% is a great song to ride around in cars and drink beer and smoke pot and listen to rock and roll on the radio,” says ChrisKimsey. “Not that I drink beer or smoke pot , but I remember the simplicity of music and life so it’s good to hear it is alive and kicking with Bad Touch. I heard something that evoked a good time melodic love song. It just needed some re-arranging and mixing to get to the heart of the song.”
The new album, Truth Be Told sees Bad Touch celebrating classic rock with Southern boogie influences, supported with heavy guitar riffs and an iron-clad, tight rhythm section, in the great tradition of Black Crowes, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Led Zeppelin.

Frontman Michael Hobby “Travelin’ Man is one of our favourite songs to perform live” and this video shows why as they sing about being on the road ready to play the music fans love to here.
The video features the band in various live performances and backstage footage from their huge US tour supporting Jason Aldean earlier this year. Travelin’ Man is full of Southern heat with that finger licking guitar and vocals that curls around like swamp water lapping at the edge of a bayou. It is energetic, full of hooky guitar licks, harmonica squeals and is a thumping country-rock anthem taken from their rave reviewed debut album Southernality on sale HERE
The band have been making a real name for themselves in the UK, being one of the most talk about bands after their phenomenal performance at C2C this year as well as Planet Rock playlisting four of their previous tracks including the title-track ’Southernality’. Hotei comments on the video saying, “I wanted to make it simple, because Richard has a very strong character, and I think we have different characters. First, we wanted to try to do a story, but now it’s more like a focus on two characters on the same screen.”
The track is taken from his debut UK album Strangers which was released last year and features an array of high profile guests including Iggy Pop and Matt Tuck from Bullet For My Valentine and more. Hotei is best known for his song ‘Battle Without Honor Or Humanity’, instantly recognisable as the theme from Quentin Tarantino’s film Kill Bill and has played alongside the The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and many more across his career.

John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers: Live in 1967 – Volume Two
Available Worldwide on Friday 6th May 20
Following the huge critical and commercial success of 2015’s John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers ‘Live in 1967’, Forty Below Records is pleased to announce the release of a second volume of live material from the legendary short-lived Bluesbreakers line-up of John Mayall (vocals, keyboards, harmonica), Peter Green (lead guitar), John McVie (bass) and Mick Fleetwood (drums)
Volume Two showcases three John Mayall self-penned tracks; the opening song, all-time blues classic ‘Tears in My Eyes’, ‘Chicago Line’,featuring a John McVie bass solo and ‘Please Don’t Tell’, which is a great example of the power-blues that The Bluesbreakerswere renowned for.
JOHN MAYALL ON THE ALBUM:
“I am so happy that the remaining usable tracks from these London club dates have been released as a follow-up to the well received Volume One. Peter Green, as before, is on fire throughout and this set includes a great instrumental based on his composition ‘Greeny’. There area couple of Otis Rush tracks that were included on the first volume but they are from different venues and totally different. I couldn’t possibly let these slide. Also, there is another version of T-Bone Walker’s’Stormy Monday’ that is sung by American Serviceman Ronnie Jones, who was lead singer with a British soul band and, who would frequently sit in at our gigs. John McVie gets in a great bass solo on ‘Chicago Line’ and Mick Fleetwood drives the whole set with his unique and powerful drumming. With these new tracks added to the collection, it pretty much features all the material we had in our repertoire at that time and I’m very glad that you can now enjoy this great piece of rock/blues history”.

NEW PORTALS – opening the way from Belfast, Mike and Ruth Aicken with their own brand of alt-pop. This is pop for the age of electronica with an ethereal feel echoes of Irish Folk in the rhythmic cadences of the lyrics.
Skyline with harmonies that ebb and flow, build and fade away this is the magic of lying on your back staring at clouds across the clear blue Skyline of summers day. A dreamy, enchanted state of heightened emotions.
Listen to Skyline and you will know why Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and Phil Taggart have joined the millions who are supporting them on Spotify as the New Portals and previous folk project The Jepettos.
The whole album takes on a journey through the geography of the blues as the album explores the physical landscape of rivers, mountains and valleys by train. Other tracks explore emotional blues of love lost, misery and desperation. The eleven original tracks have a depth and musical arrangements that augment and add a wisdom to the lyrics. From Derek Trucks’ and Susan Tedeschi’s reverent reading of ‘Keep Your Lamp Trimmed And Burning’ to ‘Lucinda Williams’ slide guitar-fueled lament in ‘Nobody’s Fault But Mine,’ from Luther Dickinson’s spirited take on ‘Bye And Bye I’m Going To See The King’ (with The Rising Star Fife & Drum Band) to Tom Waits’ virtual embodiment of Johnson himself on ‘The Soul Of A Man’ and ‘John The Revelator’, this record is packed with incomparable recordings that speak as much to the greatness of the performers as they do the enduring legacy of Blind Willie Johnson.
In the summer of 2008, a group of legendary bluesmen, some of the last surviving members of the Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters bands, were brought together by director Scott Rosenbaum for a cameo appearance in his feature film, The Perfect Age of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Pinetop Perkins, Willie “Big Eyes” Smith and Hubert Sumlin were cast for their authenticity and ability to underscore the film’s critical subplot, the evolution of rock ‘n’ roll through the blues. During breaks in production, these bluesmen thrilled Rosenbaum with their tales of a lifetime spent on the road. First hand accounts of experiences with the mythical Robert Johnson, the larger-than-life Howlin’ Wolf, the seminal Muddy Waters and disciples such as Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones got the director’s creative wheels spinning. Between takes, Sumlin called Rosenbaum over to the bandstand and prophetically told him of his feeling that they would be working together again. In an instant, an idea that had been germinating with the director for years took root. Read moreHERE

ARTHUR JEFFES (PENGUIN CAFÉ) AND MARSHMALLOW LASER FEAST (MLF)
WORKING WITH GRAVITATIONAL WAVES DISCOVERY ASTROPHYSICIST SAMAYA
NISSANKE AND PLANET-HUNTING ASTROPHYSICIST JEAN-MICHEL DESERT ON
AUDIO VISUAL EXPERIENCE
“When we look up, whether in fear or in hope, we look as one. This makes for a remarkable perspective artistically speaking.” Arthur Jeffes 2016
Arthur explains how the music was written, ”The waveforms are exponential curves and as they approach the peak they speed up and shoot up in pitch accordingly. I took these curves and mapped them into MIDI patterns to get the notes for the piano lines. All the other sounds except for the strings come directly from the waveforms – I chopped them up, stretched them out, squashed them in, EQ’d them and compressed them and built up a pallet of new sounds to play with. The result is, I hope, a set of textures that allow one to get a sense of how the waveforms behave and at the same time allow for a beautiful musical narrative.”
Samaya reflects on the compositions, “Arthur has taken celestial chirps, sound signals of moving stars sent out billions of years ago, and incorporated them into music. It’s just amazing that we can actually listen for the first time to the most violent events in the Universe. We have opened up a new window or even sense to the Universe”.
Arthur and Samaya are working with creative team MLF to produce an audio visual experience to introduce, immerse and educate audiences in an awe-inspiring and magical show. For the second part of the project, Arthur and MLF are collaborating with planet-hunting astrophysicist Jean-Michel Desert to showcase and explore nine newly discovered Exoplanets (potentially life-supporting planets orbiting other suns discovered using the Hubble space telescope). The audience will be taken on a journey to visit Exoplanets and to immerse themselves in Gravitational Waves. The show ‘Gravitational Waves & Exoplanets’ (working title) will premiere later this year. Please click here for additional information on the project and to hear excerpts of the music – HERE
About Arthur Jeffes, Samaya Nissanke and MLF:
Arthur Jeffes is a musician, composer and producer working out of London. He is the founder and frontman of the renowned band Penguin Cafe and is one half of the band Sundog (with Oli Langford) and Aparat (with Mark Springer). Other work includes composing film scores and most recently producing Sam Lee’s highly acclaimed album ‘The Fade in Time’, released in 2015. In 2012, Jeffes was commissioned by the artist Nelly Ben-Hayoun to write several pieces for the NASA Kepler Project to be played by the International Space Orchestra. The pieces ‘1420’ and ‘Aurora’ were beamed into Space in 2013. ‘1420’ was inspired by the WOW! Signal.
Samaya Nissanke’s research focuses on the astrophysics of compact object (black holes, neutron stars and white dwarfs) binaries. She is particularly interested in modeling and now detecting their gravitational radiation and has spent most of her career working in General Relativity. She is now working with a suite of time-domain telescopes (space and ground) on detecting the electromagnetic counterparts and radiations emitted from these strong Gravitational Wave emitters.
Marshmallow Laser Feast (MLF) is a creative studio that uses experimental technology to make work which reinterprets the idea of human perception. Their expertise has earned a reputation for creating the seemingly impossible – for producing installations that push boundaries, redefine expectations and excite audiences worldwide. Their work is responsive and spans kinetic sculpture, film, live performance and virtual reality. MLF’s approach is one of collaboration, working alongside technologists, engineers and makers to create bespoke software and hardware systems to realise their visions. Directors Barnaby Steel and Robin McNicholas are the driving force behind all MLF projects.

Watch the Album trailer – Heal My Soul:
“He was like another one of my sons… Jeff Healey… (exhales hard)… oh my God.” BB King
“He was SUCH a great musician… a voice that is missed.” Steve Lukather
“Jeff was one of the sweetest, most humble and talented artists I’ve met…” Bonnie Raitt
2016 marks the release of Heal My Soul – the extraordinary lost album from Jeff Healey which has never been heard before by the public. March 25th of this year would have seen Jeff turn 50 years old and this album begins the celebration of a milestone year for a true musical icon.
In a joint statement, Jeff Healey Estate Co-Administrators Cristie Healey and Roger Costa said, “Heal My Soul is a project that we have wanted to tackle for years. A ‘lost’ album, it contains material recorded during one of the most creative periods in Jeff’s rock career. Until now, it has never seen the light of day. Jeff was very proud of this work and it features some of the most powerful and impassioned performances he ever committed to record. With complete creative control we’ve laboured hard, tracking down recordings, identifying the right performances, restoring them to their proper stature and mixing and mastering them from the ground up. This has been a true labour of love for us from beginning to end and we’re absolutely thrilled to be able to finally share this significant release with the world.”
Healey died on March 2, 2008 at age 41 after a three-year battle with sarcoma cancer.

Frontiers Music Srl is delighted to present one of the most talented new hard rock bands to emerge from the British underground scene – INGLORIOUS!
INGLORIOUS are five young men with a mutual love and respect of the classics of Hard Rock music, big guitar riffs, and soulful vocals. Their influences stem from iconic rock and roll shrine of Rock albums from the 1970s – many years before the band members were born. Formed in February 2014, the band is fronted by Nathan James, who made a name for himself having sung for the multi-platinum selling Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Scorpions guitar legend Uli Jon Roth.
Nathan was looking for like-minded musicians that desired to make incredible rock music in a very honest fashion. Inspired by musical giants such as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Whitesnake, Bad Company, Aerosmith, the band has recently completed the recording of their self-titled debut album which will see the light of day in February 2016. The band’s song “Breakaway” has already found its way on to Planet Rock’s playlist.
Inglorious will appear live at the Planet Rockstock Festival in Trecco Bay, Wales on December 4th and are working to set more shows around the release of the album.

Boston’s Willard Grant Conspiracylast toured the UK in 2013 – His band is a loose, ever revolving cast of up to thirty musicians, with the only constant being singer and songwriter Robert Fisher, their Facebook page states, “If someone tells you they play with us, they probably do”.
Willard Grant Conspiracy have shared two new songs ahead of their UK tour, which starts Thursday 10th September in Glasgow. Robert Fisher explains a little bit about the songs: “These songs were recorded live in David Michael Curry’s living room. Jonah Sacks plays cello, DMC plays viola and Robert Fisher plays guitar and sings. The recordings were done as reference demos for future recordings; “Chasing Rabbits” was being played for the third time! The songs are a work in progress and you can hear the three of us listening to each other and reacting during the playing. We like the feel of these tracks and hope you do too.”
