Bad Touch out on a headline tour with Mollie Marriott, opening in Sheffield 9th November and culminating at Planet Rock SOLD OUT Rockstock in December.  To celebrate Bad Touch’s headline tour a new single “Baby Get It On” featuring guest vocals from Mollie Marriott.  The single is a cover of Tina Turner’s 1975 classic.

The new Bad Touch single featuring Mollie Marriott will be released on Monday 23rdOctober as a free MP3 download.

Bluesdoodles    Already excited about seeing Bad Touch on Stage again in November the single confirms why we all should be putting the date in the diary. The music fizzes with excitement and Mollie Marriott’s vocals harmonise with Stevie’s adding texture tone. The reinterpretation of the Tina Turner number.  Baby Get It on first appeared on Tina Turner’s second solo album “Acid Queen” that was originally released in 1975. Although it was a Tina Turner solo album, the first single “Baby Get It On” was a duet with Ike Turner (who wrote the song for Tina). The tradition has been replicated here as Mollie Marriot join Bad Touch keeping the heart and soul of the original adding touch of 21st-century badness.

FEATURING 14 FRIENDS AND A-LIST GUEST MUSICIANS.

Including John Mayall, Joe Bonamassa, Randy Bachman, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Sonny Landreth, & Warren Haynes.

Out September 1st via Provogue/Mascot Label Group

Walter Trout Announces New Album We’re All In This TogetherWalter Trout will be releasing his brand new studio album ‘We’re All In This Together’ on September 1st via Provogue/Mascot Label GroupThe album features a stellar cast of guests; John Mayall, Joe Bonamassa, Randy Bachman, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Warren Haynes, Sonny Landreth, Charlie Musselwite, Mike Zito, Robben Ford, Eric Gales, Edgar Winter, Joe Louis Walker , John Németh and his son Jon Trout

Walter Trout is the beating heart of the modern blues rock scene. Respected by the old guard. Revered by the young guns. Adored by the fans who shake his hand after the show each night. After five decades in the game, Trout is a talismanic figure and the glue that bonds the blues community together, at a time when the wider world has never been so divided. He’s also the only artist with the vision, talent and star-studded address book to pull off a project on the scale of We’re All In This Together“It was quite a piece of work to get this record together,” he admits. “But I guess I have a lot of friends, y’know…?”

Before you even hear a note, We’re All In This Together has your attention. Drafting fourteen A-list stars – including Joe Bonamassa, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, John Mayall and Randy Bachman – and writing an original song for each, Trout has made the most tantalising album of the year, and found solace after a run of solo albums that chronicled his near-fatal liver disease of 2014. “Now was the right time for this record,” he says. Battle Scars [2015] was such an intense piece of work, written with tears coming down my face. I needed a break from that, to do something fun and light-hearted. This album was joyous for me.”

Scan the credits of We’re All In This Together and you’ll find nods to every twist and turn of Trout’s electrifying backstory. There’s keys man and long-time friend Skip Edwards, who came up on the same early-’70s New Jersey circuit where Trout cut his teeth as the precocious lead guitarist for Wilmont Mews. There’s organ wizard Deacon Jones, the West Coast bandleader who brought a twenty-something Trout into the orbit of blues titans like John Lee Hooker and Big Mama Thornton. “Deacon sorta discovered me when I moved to LA in the ’70s,” reflects Trout“So I owe him.”

Since he struck out alone in 1989, Trout’s solo career has been every bit as celebrated. Touring tirelessly and spitting out classic albums that include 1990’s flag-planting Life In The Jungle, 1998’s breakthrough Walter Trout and 2012’s politically barbed Blues For The Modern Daze, he’s won international acclaim and enjoyed ever-growing sales in a notoriously fickle industry. Years on the road have also brought him tight friendships, as evidenced by 2006’s cameo-fuelled Full Circle album and this year’s unofficial sequel, We’re All In This Together. “The new album was originally gonna be called Full Circle Volume 2,”notes Trout“but I wanted to make the title a positive statement in this time of madness.”

They say you can judge a man by the company he keeps. If that’s the case, then We’re All In This Together is further proof of Walter Trout’s position at the hub of the blues scene. This is the sound of an artist not just getting by with a little help from his friends, but positively thriving, on an album that is sure to light another rocket under his blooming late career. “I’m 66 years old,” considers Trout“but I feel like I’m in the best years of my life right now. I feel better than I have in years physically. I have more energy. I have a whole different appreciation of being alive, of the world, of my family, of my career. I want life to be exciting and celebratory. I want to dig in. I want to grab life by the balls and not let go, y’know…?”

SIMO RETURN WITH NEW ALBUM ‘RISE AND SHINE’

Nashville trio SIMO widen their sound with slow-smoked soul ballads, psychedelic desert-rock instrumentals, hard-edged, bluesy barn burners and Stax-worthy funk rockers.

“Phenomenal” The Independent

Simo’s future looks so bright that the trio needs shades” Classic Rock

“Raw and brimming with Mojo” Guitar & Bass

“An incendiary talent” Powerplay

Bluesdoodles  talked to SIMO last year We asked about follow-up album to Let Love Show The Way. JD said “We have started work on next record actually started several months ago. We are doing the album in little phases. This is a different approach from previously and will be a different type of album putting it together over long period of time. We are about a quarter way through the process”.   Read More…..

Rise & Shine took shape as they toured throughout 2016 playing 215 show. The trio on stage are a firework display of energy and musical style lead by  frontman JD Simo; drummer Adam Abrashoff; and bassist Elad Shapiro. Touring across nine countries was inspirational SIMO hashing out chord changes in hotel rooms and tweaking song arrangements during soundcheck. It was a time of growth and self-improvement for everyone, and they became better friends, better musicians, and better people. At the same time, the outside world was changing. Political pundits were screaming at one another. Elections were pitting candidate against candidate, party against party, neighbour against neighbour. The need to write music that truly meant something — music that not only demonstrated the band’s explosive chops, but also sent a clear message — was greater than ever.

Rise and Shine with SIMO Forthcoming Album blurs the lines across genres as they look to future understanding the past influences whilst creating new contemporary sound. “If you go through my record collection and look at the more contemporary titles,” JD explains, “you’ll see the Roots, Wilco, Alabama Shakes, and Ryan Adams. I listen to a lot of old soul music, too. Isaac Hayes. Funkadelic. Bob Dylan. On Rise & Shine, I was just trying to cull from the vastness that is my normal music diet, and not trying to pander to some target that was easy to hit.”

Rise and Shine with SIMO Forthcoming Album was slowly  recorded working long hours moving at their own deliberate pace. “There was a lot more sonic experimentation going on,” remembers Adam. “Every track has a different sonic imprint,” JD adds. “We took great care to make each track’s sonic identity match the mood of the song. Even though that meant starting from scratch every day with how the studio was setup.”

A former session guitarist who’s played on nearly 500 albums, JD didn’t take Rise & Shine’s lengthy creation process for granted. “I’ve never worked on a record that took this long to record,” he adds. “I was so grateful to have that opportunity.”

Rise and Shine with SIMO Forthcoming Album is the band’s most expansive album to date — the work of a band at its curious, adventurous peak.

Besides his solo projects, studio and TV work, and teaching,  Stanton Moore  the drummer of Galactic, the funky New Orleans conglomeration now in its third decade of touring, and he still finds time to record and travel as a trio with David “Tork” Torkanowsky (keys) and James Singleton (bass).Besides his solo projects, studio and TV work, and teaching, he’s    Like Moore, Tork and Singleton are in high demand, so it takes some lead time to clear everybody’s schedule. The trio had a new record ready, they thought. But then, “a couple of days before we were supposed to start recording,” says Moore, Allen Toussaint passed.”

Toussaint’s sudden death on November 10, 2015 (in Madrid, far from home, of a heart attack, after playing a concert) shocked the city. The polymath New Orleans producer, songwriter, arranger, bandleader, pianist, singer, and all-around figure of elegance had been a vital, active presence in New Orleans since the 1950s.

The three musicians immediately shelved their planned album and went into creative hyperdrive. “We already had studio time booked, we couldn’t wait,” Moore recalls. “It’s not like we wrote out all these arrangements ahead of time. We were flying by the seat of our pants.”

As they began working up pieces of Toussaint’s vast repertoire, it quickly became a vocal album with guest singers. “As Tork likes to say,” Moore comments, “being a musician in New Orleans is like having the greatest musical toolbox at your disposal.” Supplementing their trio with some of New Orleans’s living legends – their friends — they re-imagined Toussaint’s songs, conceptualizing and building out an album on the fly.

The idea of guest on particular tracks was the obvious musical path to travel after Torkanowsky invited the first guest vocalist, Jolynda Kiki Chapman, best known in New Orleans for singing with her mother, Topsy Chapman.  The collaboration with a variety of artists created an album that captures teh spirit of New Orleans and the magic of Toussaint’s work.

With You in Mind: The Songs of Allen Toussaint is built on the livest grooves the trio could deliver. It was a bittersweet project for all concerned, celebrating the memory of someone whose living presence was so important. “I didn’t get to work with Allen as often as I’d have liked to,” Moore says, “but I did get to.” Their friendship went back twenty years. “Through the years we crossed paths a few times. The first time he played with us was also the first time we played the Saenger Theater,” referring to the 2,600-seat New Orleans landmark.

“Allen Toussaint wrote the soundtrack to New Orleans,” says MooreHe came out of an environment that no longer exists.

The level of talent and ability and artistry that he embodied – we won’t see this again.”

Colossus Huge Album Release from Triggerfinger

Colossus Huge Album Release from Triggerfinger

Colossus Huge Album Release from Triggerfinger

Colossus Huge Album Release from TriggerfingerAntwerp’s Triggerfinger will be releasing the strutting and swaggering new album ‘Colossus’ on 25th August via their new home Mascot Records.

The Belgian based trio (Ruben Block, vocals & guitar; Paul Van Bruystegem, bass; Mario Goossens, drums) have been exploding across Europe and have played an intensive 200 shows in the last 20 months, which also saw them support Muse on their sold out 50,000 capacity Stadium show in Aix-les-Bains, France and Park Live Festival in Russia.

Insatiable for the live stage they have opened for Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Rolling Stones (twice), Thin Lizzy, Clutch, Big Sugar and Therapy? They were asked to step in at Pinkpop to replace the mighty Foo Fighters who pulled out with Dave Grohl injured and they’ve sold out the 8000 capacity Vorst in Brussels, the Paradiso in Amsterdam an impressive 10 times as well as the 6000 capacity Heinkenen Music Hall. They also performed in the boxing ring during the Heavyweight title fight between Wladimir Klitschko (UKR) and Tony Thompson (USA) at Stade de Suisse in Bern, Switzerland which was broadcast across the world, including screens on Broadway – check out the performance here.

COLOSSUS, Triggerfinger’s fifth album and debut on Mascot Records sees the Belgian band adding new flavours to the mix.

“We wanted to get out of the rat race for a while”, Ruben Block admits. “The first step was doing a few collaborations with other musicians that would kick us out of our comfort zone. It made us look at our songs in a different way. The second step was building our own little studio where we could work and wail 24/7. All amps on 10 at two in the morning? No problem! But there was more to it than sheer volume. The previous albums were all built on roaring energy and the live interaction between the three of us. That was not our main concern anymore. This time the song would be king. ‘Anything goes’, that was our motto. Acoustic instruments, samples, keyboards, percussion, two bass guitars: as long as they served the song, we were happy.”

By now the question was, who could mold all this material into a new Triggerfinger album? Ever since the early nineties two names had popped up regularly on some of their favorite records. Produced by Mitchell Froom and engineered by Tchad Blake as a team and separately they’ve worked with variety of bands and artist from  Los Labos to Elvis Costello,  from  Bonnie Raitt to Pearl Jam.

After meeting with Mitchell Froom in June of 2016 the band set up camp in Froom’s home studio in Santa Monica for six weeks, and they hit it off instantly. The subdued producer quickly became a fourth band member, adding eerie sounds coaxed from his collection of vintage keyboards. Los Lobos’ saxophone giant Steve Berlin added his mojo on three tracks.

Colossus was the first song where the band worked with two basses. Block: “Ditching the guitar really opened up the groove, and the combination of two bass guitars was very intriguing, sonically. It was heavy, but fresh at the same time. Images and pieces of conversations flashed through my mind, like a collage, and over this monumental groove I began to chant: ‘Colossus! Colossus!’ It stuck.

This must be the boldest thing we’ve ever done”, Ruben Block says. “We’ve been fans of Mitchell Froom’s work for a long time, but working with your heroes can be a dangerous thing. Mitchell proved to be comforting and challenging at the same time. He opened so many doors for us, and with COLOSSUS he put us on track for the next few years.

Until the release date on 25th August 2017 you can watch the brand new video for Flesh Tight here:

Bluesdoodles has listen – very impressive huge driving riffs – definitely a  teaser that leads you intrigued as to what the rest of the forthcoming album will deliver. Flesh Tight definitely unveils a hint of the power of Colossus from Triggerfinger.  The video has a strutting audacity that the rhythm picks up as the music struts its stuff out of the speaker.

Little Hurricane New Album Same Sun Same Moon Listen To The Single NOW

Little Hurricane New Album Same Sun Same Moon Listen To The Single NOW

Little Hurricanethe San Diego dirty-blues duo of front man Anthony “Tone” Catalano and drummer Celeste “C.C.” Spina are gearing up for the release of their third full-length studio album Same Sun Same Moon on April 14, on their new home Mascot Records

https://www.mascotlabelgroup.com

Their story began in San Diego, where Little Hurricane formed. Having recently resumed playing drums after an eight-year hiatus, CC placed a musicians-wanted ad on Craigslist. Among the myriad of respondents was Tone, a studio engineer who’d worked with artists ranging from John Paul Jones to Gwen Stefani. The two musicians were neighbours who had never met, and bonded over mutual interests including the blues, unusual and vintage gear, and their individual experiences playing in high school jazz bands. A year later, Little Hurricane won three San Diego Music Awards, including Album of the Year for 2011 debut Homewrecker. Little Hurricane’s explosive live show soon landed them slots at major festivals including Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza, and garnered media attention from outlets including Rolling Stone, which profiled them in an extensive behind-the-scenes piece at SXSW 2012.

The evolution of Little Hurricane is especially evident on the album’s first single “OTL”, a love song woven from understated keyboards and intertwined vocals. Married in summer 2016, the creative partners elected to openly share their happiness with listeners for the first time.

RELEASED FRIDAY 24th MARCH 2017

Says Schenker, “It’s a miracle that after all these years, something like this took place with the original band members of “M.S.G.”. Being able to go back to those days and celebrate the music is an exciting experience for us, as well as for old and new fans. To being able to re-experience, and for the new audience to get a feel of what it was like, is incredibly enjoyable.”

Continues Schenker, “It’s an amazing feeling to have all of my M.S.G. Family from the ’80’s performing together and especially with Graham Bonnet, who I never got to play any concerts after our Assault Attack album that was originally released in 1982. Fortunately, being able to have the participation of original M.S.G. members such as Gary Barden, Chris Glen (bass) and Ted McKenna (drums) being part of it, and somehow, to perform with Robin McAuley and Steve Mann (guitar, keyboards) again as well, is pretty awesome.”

Broken Witt Rebels experienced success in 2016 with the release of their 5-track EP featuring the singles “Low” and “Guns” which received airplay on Planet Rock and XS Manchester, while “Low” was Track of the Week on Radio X.

On October 27th, they won “Best Rock Act” at the first annual Unsigned Music Awardsheld at The Troxy in London, and closed the Awards by performing “Guns”.  BWR were also nominated for “Best Live Act”.

The title of BWR EP Georgia Pine comes from an old stoner reference “As high as a Georgia Pine. For BWR, the metaphor is more about their ascension to the top. It’s clear they haven’t come to make up the numbers.

With the title track Georgia Pine as their most recent single, the Rebels show their softer side, with Danny Core’s trademark howl melts hearts with the impassioned lyrics “You’re always there for me.”

BWR have amassed over 1 million video plays and “Guns” became the 9th most shared and play-listed track on Spotify in the UK during July.  With a major label deal around the corner, the future’s looking bright.

Broken Witt Rebels are a band not to missed and with Bad Touch as will this is a double live delight

Bad Touch has dovetailed  the album release, and UK co-headline tour on November 19th with the Australian rock band Massive.

The new album, which was recorded at Mwnci Studios in Wales, features the singles“99%” and “Made To Break”, both *remixed for radio by the legendary Rolling Stones engineer and co-producer, Chris Kimsey.  Both singles will be accompanied by official music videos.

“99% is a great song to ride around in cars and drink beer and smoke pot and listen to rock and roll on the radio,” says Chris Kimsey. “Not that I drink beer or smoke pot , but I remember the simplicity of music and life so it’s good to hear it is alive and kicking with Bad Touch. I heard something that evoked a good time melodic love song. It just needed some re-arranging and mixing to get to the heart of the song.”

The new album, Truth Be Told sees Bad Touch celebrating classic rock with Southern boogie influences, supported with heavy guitar riffs and an iron-clad, tight rhythm section, in the great tradition of Black Crowes, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Led Zeppelin.
